Xiaomi Mi Box S Android TV 4K: network connection

Hello,

I have a Xiaomi Mi Box S Android TV 4K that I was able to connect to Ethernet via a Ugreen adapter (USB - RJ45).

However, a friend of mine also has one, but unlike mine, it doesn’t have a USB connector but rather a second HDMI. Is there an adapter that allows you to use this HDMI connector to connect to the network (via RJ45)?

Thank you for your advice.

Hello,

I think you’re mixing everything up a bit... Your friend's box must not be the same... Check the model references carefully, it must be different, maybe only by one letter...

-- An HDMI connector is used to connect to a TV or a screen... The RJ45 network function does not apply here at all... each thing has a defined function and it won't work for others...

-- The real problem is that you didn’t choose the right model when ordering... You need to read all the specifications.

-- I advise against the RJ45 adapter that could work with a USB... Most of the time, it doesn’t work... moreover, the maximum speed will be that of the USB... so useless!

-- The means of communication for this BOX is solely Wi-Fi... with the speed of Wi-Fi... as long as your BOX isn’t too far away... But you won't be able to do 4K, you’ll have to settle for 1080x1920 TV... but hey, that's already acceptable.

Hello,

thank you for your response.
I indeed suppose that the model purchased by my friend is slightly different.
I figured that the HDMI connector couldn't be used for the network ...

As for me, with a connection via wifi, the box would freeze quite regularly after a certain period of use.
Since I connected it via the Ugreen adapter on the USB, I haven't had any problems anymore.

If it works like that, good for you, and that solves the problem.

If the Wi-Fi drops occasionally, it's because you're too far from your router... or the Wi-Fi standard is not the same... or your neighbors are on the same channels and interfering with yours... etc... etc...

A wired connection avoids all that... but it doesn't stop the Internet service provider from making cuts, according to its criteria.

In fact, it's not the wifi that's at fault because the device is 25 cm away from the box.
No, I really think it's the MI Box that's having a problem (insufficient resources? bug?)
My friend has a similar issue with hers as well.

Of course, 25cm should be enough to receive..!! however, it may not necessarily be sufficient... because the Wi-Fi radio signal can very well have different encoding or encryption characteristics... and this cannot be verified based on a thought... It's Cartesian.

This BOX can also have issues... Insufficient resources...??? you have to pay more to have more resources; RAM and eMMC (Nand) for example... You need 4GB of RAM and 32 or 64 of Nand...

This TV BOX has 2GB of RAM (DDR3) and 8 of Nand with 5 available... That's nothing... If you forget just one application open, it will quickly become saturated.

But that's not all... for example, we don't know your internet speed...?? If it is stable..?? If there are outages...etc..

Similarly, depending on what you're watching and other precautions... You may have unwanted "visitors" in this TV box that disrupt the Android system... and simply your ISP who is tired of seeing their networks saturated by videos that do not comply with protocols

And if your friend has the same things, it's for the same reasons.

Thank you, but I think we're venturing into endless assumptions here.

When it stops working (after a variable amount of time, but at least an hour), the box freezes.
I then have to cut the power and restart it.
This has nothing to do with the stability of the wifi, which is perfect, but it seems to me to be a situation apparently poorly managed by the box's software.

In response to my assumptions, you could clarify things with numbers, references, photos, etc., and it wouldn't be mere assumptions anymore..

For example, your internet provider..?? the model of your FreeBox..?? the Nperf link that shows your speed... the source of your videos..?? Which players do you use to watch them... we can't play guessing games... and redo the program of your BOX because it is "poorly managed"

In any case, we will not participate in this type of reconstruction of your BOX that has so little memory... You should rather visit Android forums.. https://www.phonandroid.com/forum/ for example.
