Hello,
Yesterday at 8:55 PM I received a text message from a 12-digit number: +447785542198. It said: "Hi, it's me? I'm still waiting for your call, seems like I gave you my number for nothing, call me back at 0899692614."
Of course, I didn't call back.
A few months ago, the number 0899785961 was calling me without leaving a message.
I wonder who they are and how they have access to our private numbers? And what is their goal? Are they getting rich? Or is it the service providers who are getting rich, and it suits them? (I have SFR)

First of all, well done for not falling for it ;-) When you receive this kind of suspicious text, you can always forward it to 33700, which investigates these various scams.

The methods these scammers use to get phone numbers are numerous: it can be any files for which you leave your mobile number. Unfortunately, there's not much you can do about that...

The message from this number +447785542198 was:
"I love men who express their feelings (tags), meet me tomorrow at 11:30 on the bench (she <3 me)"
Actually, at the time, a tagger had tagged the school with "I love Marine" everywhere (including on this bench where he had written "she <3 me") and I was dating a Marine, so I was obviously suspected of being the tagger in question. Immediately after, I received this message from the same number:
"You absolutely have to come see me"
How could they have so much information about me?? No questionnaire could provide that much information!!

Indeed, with the holidays they are particularly active! Especially don't call these numbers, the government (yes indeed!) has set up a service that is responsible for identifying the culprits and taking action... Suspected SMS from +447785548715 (likely English but who knows) with an intriguing text that can deceive many:

"I'm not amused to send you texts and you don't respond! Call 0899783194 code 84070 and listen to my message, you'll understand why I insist."

NEVER RESPOND if you are not sure of the number from which the SMS originates (generally all the 0899...) if you really feel the urge, look it up online first and you should find the truth (the scam!)

For strange emails (chain letters, calls for help, missing persons, need for transplants, warnings about new viruses, etc.) "super urgent to forward to all your contacts," see: www.hoaxkiller.fr before forwarding anything!!!

Hello everyone!  I just reported a suspicious text message to 33700 that I had just received on my mobile!  The number I was supposed to call according to this "spammer" was 0899230133!  Luckily for me, I still remember who I give my number to, and that's why I immediately "typed" the message announced on Google! Today is March 26, 2009, and I received a text message on my mobile at 5:00 PM:
"Hi

Except that I received it from a mobile phone sending from France: +336 46 08 63 91

I immediately forwarded this text to 33700 as suggested by the second post in this discussion, strongly suspecting that it was a scam.

I also don't understand how they could have my number since I NEVER share it.
So this will remain a mystery, I think...

Quick tip: If you forward this fraudulent text to 33700, add the sender's number in the text part; this will spare you from sending another text asking you to clarify.

Anyway, it's a detail but maybe revealing: could it be a foreign operator sending these texts? (the grammar mistake and the old number starting with +44 seems to confirm that. a priori it's not people but robots.  and people who only cash in the amount of their scam and disappear and reappear otherwise with other addresses.  You should avoid leaving your details in view of potential hackers. on a public forum for example, or on a paper to fill out "you have won".......... etc because the list of scams is long.  -- in May, do what you like.

However, I received a slightly different message; I should clarify that it was sent to my company's mobile phone and that I am with Orange. This mobile being strictly professional, I don't understand how they got my number. Call 0899226457 code 84070 and listen to my message, you will understand why I insist" coming from +33614177834.  So, in my opinion, these would be stolen phones used solely for the purpose of spamming other people, regardless of their phone carriers.  The best thing to do is not to respond, and as for 33700, nothing tells us that they are actually taking action.  Scammers are actually waiting for us to send them "STOP" via premium-rate texts; that’s how they get rich and grow at our expense.  So just ignore these idiots, it will slowly kill them if no one falls for the trap anymore.  Good luck to those who got caught.

I just received a message saying: "MMC: Hello, you have 3 new multimedia messages waiting on our service. Send READ by SMS to 84333 (3rd + Px1SMS - stop = NoAd)" from a French mobile number: +33614288954. I don’t know this number or its sender, but it is clear from several reverse directories that this number is an SFR customer. A maneuver to get SFR subscribers to send SMS without their knowledge, eating into their plan and trying to scam us regardless of the operator used (I am personally with Orange).  In short, report these messages for free to 33700: it’s a service that will investigate attempts at scams and phishing, then delete these messages and above all, DO NOT DO WHAT YOU ARE ASKED VIA UNSOLICITED SMS.

If you receive a message like "hi it's me..." or "I don't enjoy sending you texts...", you just have to call the number that sent you the message, if and only if it comes from a 06. What I did once: I received the message "hi it's me call me at 0899xxxxxx" from a 06. I called the mobile number and interrogated the person I had on the line.
