free box: remote control broken Solved

Question

Hello everyone,
I tried to install free player, the problem is that I had to reconnect my free box to my TV and nothing happened, the batteries in the remote control are new, I have no response from the remote control. How can I tell if the problem comes from the remote control, how can I identify the source of the problem and solve it?
If it does indeed come from the remote control, who manages that? Is it free?

found how to do it:

turn off the HD box, and turn it back on while holding down the reset button on the back, this forces a reconfiguration of the remote control and it works,
moreover, no hard drive data is lost ;)

Hi
To check if any remote control is working, it's quite simple:
You aim a digital camera or a camcorder (preferably without the filter) with the remote and look through the viewfinder to see if the remote's LEDs flash when you press the buttons...
If so, then it needs to be replaced by Free

To answer you, infrared is part of the spectrum of light invisible to the eye (like many others such as ultraviolet, etc., etc., etc.), which is not the case for electronics :) there you go :)

Hello everyone, let me explain my problem. I connected my box and my HD receiver without any apparent issues. Internet and phone services are working, but as soon as I tried to check the TV channels, I found that my remote control was not responding. I tried updating my Freebox, but it didn’t change anything. Since then, I bought a new one, and it's still the same problem. Actually, I access the mosaic page, and then nothing happens; I can’t scroll through the channels or make a selection or do any manipulation. Thank you for giving me some advice or a solution if you know how to fix it.

I can navigate by pressing the buttons on the Freebox HD... but the remote control... it doesn't even light up the little red thing at the end when I press a button... :s

Hello everyone, I had the same problem and I solved it with a Free advisor

1 call the hotline and enter your identifier and try to get a counselor (it takes a while but it’s no big deal, lol!!)

2 (they will ask you to) unplug your HD TV terminal

3 connect the HD TV terminal and the internet phone terminal using the yellow cable, and if you are using ethernet there are 2 (smart from Free!!)

4 plug it back in while holding down the middle button (on the HD TV terminal) until the firmware appears!

5 the advisor will do a small update! which takes about 5 steps and about 2 minutes!

6 use your remote control! and it’s good!!

for me it worked!!!

I think this process can be done without the advisor!!
connect the two terminals with the "yellow" wire (ethernet!) unplug the HD TV terminal, press the little button in the middle on the HD TV terminal and plug it back in while still holding it! wait for the firmware to appear and then!! remove your finger from the button!! it will do a little update and there you go!

Increase the brightness of your TV !!!!!  I use an LCD TV and I had the same remote control issue with my Freebox HD. After a month, I found that it was my TV creating interference when it was on, and from there I found the solution on this forum in another message (http://www.commentcamarche.net/forum/affich 7739985 freebox interferences telecommande et tele)   So Increase the brightness !!!!!   hoping it works for you too...

I have had problems with the Freebox HD remote twice. Here’s my method for debugging:

1- Check the batteries.
2- Check that the remote works by pointing it at a camera (make sure the infrared LED blinks).
3- Perform a hard reboot of the Freebox HD player (unplug it, wait for it to restart).

If nothing works, here’s what worked for me:

a- Unplug the HD Box (Hard Drive),
b- Unplug the HD modem,
c- Wait 30 seconds,
d- Plug the HD modem back in and wait for it to display the time,
e- Wait 30 seconds before touching the HD box,
f- Plug the HD Box back in and let it get to "Rock'n Roll",
g- Use the remote without any issues (or else, hardware problem with the box ===> customer service).

Good luck (it’s long, you have to follow the steps in order and not skip any, but it works!!!).

I also had the problem twice.
And I solved it by myself twice as well.

I found that my Freebox HD was a bit "warm"
so I unplugged it, not just putting it on standby, but unplugging the power cable and letting it cool down for about an hour
then I plugged it back in and oh miracle... it worked again.

I had the same problem, I restarted everything, rebooted, etc... nothing worked. While pointing the remote control towards the lens of my camera, I noticed there was no flashing even though the batteries were new, so I disassembled the remote and that’s when I saw that the spring making contact with the battery had slipped out of place and there was no contact. I put it back in place and boom, it works again. So if everything you try doesn’t work, think about checking that little spring, it might be as simple as that.

I completely understand the problem. Free is a mess.
Guaranteed bugs; when it’s not the box, it’s the HD box or the Plug. Calling for assistance is mandatory; dialogue boxes like this one don't help them at all, but it allows them to deliver their product with all the problems that characterize it.
Imagine your car giving you trouble every day. Unimaginable! But for Free, this is normal operation. Resorting to assistance is profitable. They make you repeat the same tests three to four times, and in the meantime, the meter runs. Last intervention cost €27.
For me, it’s over. I’m firing them for "screwing around" and that’s putting it mildly!!

I just had the same issue with the Freebox V6. The remote control stopped working after simultaneously pressing two buttons.

I tried a lot of things (USB keyboard, reboots, recalibration, changing batteries) but apparently, it was the batteries that were not properly seated.

I placed the remote vertically and let the batteries slide out one by one (making sure to hear the spring when the battery fell onto it). A reboot of the player and the remote was working again.
