Hello,
Here's my explanation, I've been trying for months to receive MMS with Free without mobile data (because of my small 50MB plan)
I’ve read here that it was possible: https://forums.commentcamarche.net/forum/affich-28515421-peut-on-recevoir-des-mms-de-free-sans-donnees-mobiles
I’ve followed the method to the letter several times, but NOTHING WORKS!
I’ve also contacted Free Mobile support several times, once they told me it's possible but I need to reset my access points, another time they told me that to receive MMS, the data service must be enabled.... In short, I’ve also tried exactly what they instructed but STILL NOTHING WORKS...
I'm starting to lose hope and would therefore need your help
Thank you

Well, I'm getting back to you because there's been some improvement.

By following the steps indicated in my link:
"first disable mobile data on the phone and go to "settings", "more in "wireless and networks", mobile networks, access points: here you have the 2 APNs: "Free" for internet and "Free MMS" for MMS:
Go to "Free" and at "APN type" delete "default, supl" and leave it empty
Go to "Free MMS" and at "APN type" change "mms" to "default, mms"
From now on you should have the "Free MMS" APN selected as the default APN.
Now you can activate "mobile data" on your phone and receive MMS without it being deducted from your 50 MB of DATA"

At this point, it still doesn't work, and in the Free APN, no matter how many times I delete "default, supl" and then save it, when I open it again, it displays "default0mms,supl,hipri,fota,cbs"

Then, as mentioned by Pierr10, in the Free MMS APN, changing the MVNO type from None to GIG and then saving those changes deletes my Free APN.... but it works, I can normally receive my MMS with mobile data activated on the smartphone and off-plan mobile data disabled in the FreeMobile management interface"

In short, since it works, that's the main thing, but I don't know if my two questions/concerns are normal...

I will indicate what I have in my smartphone, like settings for the Free APN. This will be more recent than what is in the link you are using (2014).

(The type of APN is different)

According to what you say, the functioning of MMS is now normal.

Hello,

To receive MMS messages, mobile data must be enabled on the smartphone. The usage is not counted against the 50 MB plan.

I don’t know if it is still possible to deactivate mobile data overage in the management interface
https://mobile.free.fr/account/
This should be prioritized
(I cannot verify since I don’t have this plan).

To summarize, the configuration should be as follows:
Mobile data enabled on the smartphone and mobile data overage disabled in the FreeMobile management interface.

If it is not possible to block overage data, it is imperative to set an alert on the smartphone to ensure not exceeding the 50 MB quota.

What is well understood is clearly stated,
And the words to say it come easily.

"That's exactly what I did..."

You still need to check the settings.

Go to
Settings > Connections > Mobile Networks > Access Point Names
Click on Free MMS.
You should have the following configuration:

Each line is editable.

I'm reaching the limits of what can be done.

One more check:
Go to Settings > Connections > Mobile Networks

- The network mode should be set to automatic: for example 4G/3G/2G (automatic connection)

- Network operators should be set to automatic selection

Are you able to connect to the Internet when mobile data is activated?

Hello
my wife has a Free plan for €2. I disabled the data for her because she only uses it to call and receive calls, and when I send her photos, she receives them without any problems!

Hello,

Very surprising! For MMS, there is necessarily an Internet connection, either through mobile data or Wi-Fi.
I'm not the only one saying this:
