Receive Free MMS without mobile data Solved

Hello,

So, I have a Samsung Express I8730 with the €2 plan from Free.
I can send and receive MMS if I enable "Mobile data".
I would like to know how to avoid having to turn this option on every time I want to send or receive an MMS.

A friend of mine has a Samsung S3 with an Orange plan and he can receive MMS without having "Mobile data" enabled. So I figure it should be possible with Free as well, but I can't find how to do it.

So, I'm coming to this forum to seek your help.

Good evening, owner of a Sony Xperia M (Android 4.2 or 4.3, I’m not sure) with a €2 mobile plan, I encountered the same issue as many here: how to send MMS without using mobile data from app updates or anything else.
I found the solution on another forum (aduf):

First, disable mobile data on your phone and go to "settings", "more" in "wireless and networks", mobile networks, access points: here you have the 2 APNs: "Free" for internet and "Free MMS" for MMS:
Go to "Free" and in "APN type" delete "default,supl" and leave it empty
Go to "Free MMS" and in "APN type" change "mms" to "default,mms"

Now you should have the "Free MMS" APN set as the default APN.

You can now enable "mobile data" on your phone and receive MMS without being deducted from your 50 MB of DATA.

And if you want to browse, just disable "mobile data" on your phone, select the "Free Mobile" APN and reactivate "mobile data" on your phone...

If I activate mobile data (so 3G) on the phone, I can send and receive MMS without having to activate an option with Free.

I would have liked the phone to "activate" 3G without me having to do it, like my friend’s Samsung S3 does... and a friend has a WIKO with an Orange prepaid card and for her too, 3G activates when she receives or wants to send an MMS without her having to enable 3G. However, she has to enable 3G to go online.

I'm not sure if you understand what I'm trying to do... (because I'm not sure I'm explaining clearly)

I have the same problem with the 2 euro plan. I think the issue comes from the version of Android, let me explain:
I have two phones on the 2 euro plan, the first one is a ZTE Blade S with OS version 2.3.5. "Mobile data" disabled, sends/receives MMS without any issues, this one activates and deactivates data for MMS.
The second phone is an Alcatel ONETOUCH IDOL S running Android Jelly Bean 4.2, which requires me to enable "Mobile data" for MMS. The problem is, by activating data with Free, it used up 6 MB in 2 days without doing anything, even when I only activated the 2G network on the phone. According to Free's support advice, this should have disabled 3G.
So I have to disable data with Free and leave "Mobile data" checked on the Alcatel to receive MMS, meaning I can only go online using Wi-Fi :-(

I found the solution with the free app "TEXTRA."
By going into the MMS settings in the parameters of this application, all you have to do is check the box "Enable mobile data," whose function "temporarily allows automatic activation of 3/4 G data during the sending or receiving of an MMS."
Since sending MMS via mobile data is free with Free, it won’t cost anything, and other applications won't have time to perform their updates via mobile data, thus not eating into the 50 MB (currently) included in the €2 plan...

This app also allows sending MMS via Wi-Fi, provided that the operator supports this function.

Plus, this application seems really good.

And on the phone, keep Mobile Data enabled...

Disable data on the Free Mobile website (2 euro plan)

Enable mobile data connection on your phone (Samsung S4)

Completely delete the APN (Free) Internet in mobile networks, access point names.

In Free MMS, go to APN type and validate internet+MMS.

The internet network appears on the phone but does not consume data as it is disabled on the Free website. This fictitious internet network is only active for the automatic sending and receiving of MMS messages.

Hello.

For mobile phones, MMS must go through the internet network (2G, 3G,....), it's mandatory!.

For the Samsung S4, the data connection must be active on the phone to send and receive MMS (manually or automatically).

If the data connection is not active on the S4, you will never be able to receive MMS.

You need to find the right settings for your phone so that the data connection automatically activates for a brief moment to send and receive MMS.

On certain phones, this internet connection (data connection), even if it doesn't appear on the phone, automatically activates for a brief moment to send and receive MMS (e.g., Samsung Ace 2).

For my wife's phone (Samsung S4), I applied what was mentioned above (post from January 4) and there are no more issues receiving MMS. The data connection is constantly active on the phone but does not consume data, hence sending and receiving MMS works without problems.

The data that can be activated on the Free website (2 euro plan) is only for internet, YouTube, Play Store....., going through the 3G, 4G network consuming data; it does not serve any purpose for MMS.
