Hello,

I'm trying to find out why I can't uninstall Netflix from my phone, while I can easily uninstall other apps with a long press and the "uninstall" option shows up. I don't understand why it's not the same as the others and I no longer want Netflix. Thank you for your replies.

Hello,

It's likely that the app was pre-installed by the manufacturer and is part of the system. One option would be to disable it to prevent it from functioning.

Go to the phone's settings and navigate to the Applications section. Select Netflix and tap on Disable.

To reactivate it, repeat the same steps and tap on Enable.

What do you mean by pre-installed? Are there applications that can be pre-installed like that, without being able to delete them, without being fully installed? Yet it's installed when I install it, it can't be "pre-installed". On the Play Store, I can't even uninstall it (there's no button), does that mean the manufacturer prevents uninstallation?

As for deactivation, it doesn't delete it, so it's not interesting. It's strange that it works like that.

I have a Samsung... Except that we were ignoring that :-)
Hence the usefulness of giving useful details.

So no, no Netflix on Samsung in principle. However, if the phone is not rooted and has never been, there is no need to switch to that mode to uninstall. An app installed normally should be able to uninstall normally.
I don't have Netflix, so I don't want to test on Samsung, but a good bug could explain why it doesn't want to uninstall even though the icon is active (which is not usually the case with pre-installed apps, which can just be disabled).

Without any other solution, I see only one way out of this, apart from disabling it, which is to reset. But that's obviously longer, and you have to make sure that a backup exists somewhere.
