Chrome print: "save" instead of "default printer"
Riton -
For several weeks now, when I try to print a document on Chrome, the dialog box opens and I have "save as PDF" as the default option instead of my printer (which is indeed checked as "default" in the settings).
When I click on modify to select my printer, I have to wait a long time before I can access the drop-down list of printers. Then I can select my printer and again, I have to wait for a very long time (like I have time to go wash my hands, dry them properly and come back !!!) And in the meantime, I can't do anything on my computer.
I uninstalled and then reinstalled my printer, but that didn't change anything. However, I tried other applications outside of Chrome, and everything works fine.
Thank you very much for your help, it's really starting to annoy me!!!
Have a good holiday

Hello,
I encountered this problem and I found out that it was one of my declared printers that was the source of the issue.
For your information, both Google Chrome and Microsoft Edge use the same "Chromium" technology, which displays a preview when printing (CTRL + P) with the option to "Save as PDF" in the output.
I ran the printing troubleshooter, which got stuck on the "spooler service" display.
I checked the properties of all my printers, and on one of my printers, the properties window didn't appear! Then after about 5 minutes, I saw it pop up!
I deleted that printer, and then everything returned to normal; the preview displayed instantly, and I was able to modify my printer, which remained saved when I reopened the browser.
If this doesn't work for you, a simple workaround is to use the "CTRL + SHIFT + P" key combination, which will directly bring up the printer dialog without going through the preview.
That's it!
If you find anything, please let me know.
This bug is really incredible and it's seriously annoying.
Are you also on WIN10?
We tried renaming the Chrome app data folder but it doesn't do anything.
Have you uninstalled and then reinstalled Chrome? It might fix your issue

Thank you for the reply, I just did it and unfortunately, it doesn’t change anything.
I’ve also installed Firefox and it works normally. But I would like to fix the issue in Chrome, if someone has a "trick"!
Thank you and have a good Sunday.
First, try clearing the Google Chrome cache, checking if your version of Chrome is up to date, and verifying if your printer drivers are updated.
