I can no longer type in Google Chrome and Firefox.

Hello, I can't write in Google Chrome and Firefox since last night. I've checked the extensions, reinstalled the browsers, verified if incognito mode worked, used AdwCleaner and Malwarebytes, all without results. Strangely, I can still use Microsoft Edge. When I'm on Google Chrome, I can still write on sites like eBay while the search bar and other sites no longer allow me to type. When I open a new tab, I still can't write. I've tried several solutions and I'm starting to feel a bit desperate.

      My PC is not slow and does not crash. Aside from this issue, it works as usual. It's only with Google Chrome and Firefox. I tried using YouTube on Google Chrome and Firefox and I couldn't type. With Microsoft Edge, it worked.

      I just noticed another thing. The only symbols I can type in the search bar of Google Chrome and Firefox are /*-«.+

      The symbols /*-.+ were typed using the right side of my keyboard. I am also able to use the "space" bar.

    Where do the small characters encoded and decoded twice by layer disappear between input and display without giving an error message? O_o

    I think it's a send report to Mozilla/Chrome that needs to be done. You should also post a "hijackthis" on the dedicated forum of your OS, as well as other stuff that the moderators will ask you for.

      I have to tell you that my computer skills are not very developed. I just received the HijackThis logfile but I don't understand what you mean by "dedicated forum for your OS" and "characters encoded and decoded twice by layer." Do you also mean that I should explain my problem to both Chrome AND Mozilla?

    I noticed that a new version of Zemana's antilogger had installed on my computer. That was the cause of the problem!!! Thank you both for taking the time to respond to me anyway :)

      Hi,

      I have the same problem, but the other way around; I can write without issue on Firefox but not on Microsoft Edge, and what's strange is that I can paste text in Microsoft Edge using Ctrl + V... Do you have any idea by any chance? Because your last message didn't make any sense to me, I don't know Zemana and it's not installed.

      The problem is mainly caused by Zemana antilogger; if you have it, close it, and everything will work again.
