Fiber connection and DTI box

Hello,

I hope this thread is still active because I have a related question.

My contractor installed a DTI box connected to RJ45 wires in my electrical meter box. The idea was to connect the fiber to the DTI box, then plug the router into my living room, both to a power source and the RJ45 cable.

However, SFR came by and told me that it wasn’t possible, that the router had to be directly connected to the fiber cable, and to a power source.

Otherwise, I would have to drill and run wires everywhere, which bothers me aesthetically.

Is this specific to this provider, or could another one do it for me?

Would my installation work as is with ADSL?

Is my installation invalid?

I'm frustrated and without internet!!

Thank you very much in advance for your answers.

Nelly

Hello
In the context of fiber optics, the DTI is no longer useful. It is only for copper, namely ADSL.
.
For fiber, it arrives at your home on a PTO (optical termination point) that will be installed near the DTI. After that, the fiber will go wherever you want according to the technician and will connect to an ONT, which needs to be plugged into a 220v outlet, and then there will be an RJ45 cable between this ONT (supplied by the ISP) and the fiber box. Be careful, depending on the box provided, the ONT may be directly integrated into the box.
.
Of course, if you want a network passing through the wall sockets, you will need to ensure that they are connected correctly, either by you or by an electrician.
