Hello,

I'm seeking help today because my Canon MG5450 scanner doesn't recognize my PC to start a scan from the printer.
I have a new Dell PC running Windows 10. There are no issues installing the printer and the scanner.
After running a test from the control panel, the diagnostic test was successful.
I can also initiate a scan from the Windows Fax and Scan program.
It's only when I try to start the scan directly from the printer's dashboard that my PC is not recognized; it only offers Local USB or my partner's computer.
I tried disabling the firewall, but that didn't change anything...
I also attempted to install IJ Network Scanner Selector, but I couldn't get it to work.
Similarly, when I connect to the scanner via USB and ask it to perform a scan from the dashboard, nothing happens...
I had tinkered with some things in the task manager, in the Services tab. Maybe I disabled something I shouldn't have.

I've tried everything I could think of and consulted various sites to try to resolve my issue, but I haven't been able to, which is why I'm turning to this forum for help.

Thank you in advance to those who take some of their time to try to assist me.
Have a good evening everyone,
Sophie

Hello,

Try the response I provided here.

Note: right-click on the Start button and choose Run, then type cnmnstt.exe in the window and confirm.

What is well conceived can be clearly stated,
And the words to say it come easily.

Good evening,

Thank you for trying to help me.
I read your response carefully and downloaded IJ Network Tool. I attempted to install it. It asks me to connect the printer via USB, which I did, but the process does not complete because at the beginning, it detects the printer, but then it no longer detects it, and the installation cannot be completed.

I don't quite understand why, by the way...

You should completely reinstall the printer.

Start by uninstalling it: Settings > Devices > Printers and Scanners
Click on the printer and choose Remove.
Do the same for anything that may have been installed at the same time as the printer and then reinstall using the provided CD.

I hadn't seen your message in full...

I made your clarification and obtained the following response:
Windows cannot find 'cnmnstt.exe'. Please check that you have entered the correct name and try again.

I did write the command you asked me to.

That means that the technique I mentioned does not apply to your printer. So as I wrote, a complete reinstallation is necessary.

Good evening,
I deleted the printer and the drivers.
I downloaded the driver from the Canon website and reinstalled it, and everything works as before.
By downloading this new driver, I found a Canon Utilities folder with the 3 applications IJ Network Tool, IJ Scan Utility, IJ Network Scanner Selector EX.

Thank you for your valuable advice and assistance.
Have a good evening.

Good evening to you too!

Check the task manager (startup tab) to see if the IJ Network Scanner Selector EX manager starts up with Windows. The status should be enabled.
