Hi,
I think France Identité is more of a burden than anything: even though my ID card is registered there, every time I want to use the app I have to present my real card to it, so it’s an useless gadget. period.
And there you go, there you go, there you have it ....
But misery, how annoying the line spacing is !! -
But... France Identité is not recognized, for example, by car rental companies!!! We ran into this in Réunion, where my driving license on France Identité wasn’t valid in the eyes of all the car rental companies we approached!

It’s a nitpick; most car rental companies, including in metropolitan France, require, as stated in their Terms and Conditions, an original paper (or now plastic) driving license of which they keep a copy, not easy with an online application...
Similarly, in case of identity checks outside DOM-TOM within the Schengen area, I’m not sure an officer, say German, would be satisfied with France Identités.
Not to mention, of course, phone breakdowns, a fairly common issue that leads to travelers in metropolitan France being ticketed for lack of a travel document.
It’s clear that while France Identités can be handy for proving one’s identity online, it would not be sufficient, and it’s also hard to understand why one would make a principled decision not to put identity documents where they normally belong (in a wallet).
