Hello everyone,
I performed the last update recommended by Mac, but since then I can no longer access my documents. The following message appears when I click on the shortcut in Finder: "Documents cannot be opened because the original item cannot be found." I imagine it has been moved, but I don't know how to find it to put it back in the right location.
Could you help me?
Thank you in advance for your assistance.

Hello,
Which update are we referring to? You need to say everything, we’re not clairvoyants.
You can do a search, from the Finder/file menu/search, in the window type "Documents" and you will get answers, select the answer and you will have the path to the "Documents" folder.
If you don’t have an answer, it’s because you have changed OS X versions, maybe by switching to Catalina, and this folder might have changed its name.
Look at this help:

When it’s urgent, it’s already too late (Talleyrand)
When everything has failed, read the manual ;)

Sorry, it’s indeed the transition to Catalina. I also have a folder "moved items" that has appeared on the desktop, containing a TextEdit document named "swapfile0" that I also cannot open because apparently I don’t have permission.
As for the help link, I don’t use iCloud Drive...

Before giving in to Apple's requests for this update, you should have done some research first, that's what novices tend to do before diving in! Indeed, this latest version of Mac OS has some nasty requirements, especially for Macs older than 4 or 5 years and for applications that are not 64-bit and peripherals of the same age, which developers and manufacturers have not bothered to update.
I can't tell you more, as I'm not on this OS, which, by the way, I don't have access to.
What I've read is that the "desktop and Documents" are located in iCloud, even if you don't use it. Haven't you done a search, as explained?

For "swapfile0," take a look here:

Alright, I see... I had been postponing the update for months and finally went through with it thinking I had no choice, a bit like with the iPhone, apparently that was a mistake.
I did some research and I found some files in the same location and under the same name as before. Simply, the desktop shortcut in the Finder is not accessible either, is there another way to access the contents of the drive?
