Hello everyone.

Here’s my problem: since I wanted to install Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit, I keep getting the error 0x80070017 on a Samsung NP300E7A computer. This is the first time I've encountered this issue. I tried the hard drive externally, and it works perfectly; I can even open it and copy my important files from drives F and G. Since then, I formatted them to see if that would help, but without success; I still get the error 0x80070017 at the beginning of the Windows installation.

Can someone help me? Thank you.

    Hello,
What medium are you using to install Windows 7 on your hard drive? The error code indicates that the installation files are corrupted, so either change the installation medium (via USB, installation CD) or try to find an uncorrupted (and legal) copy of Windows that you can place on your medium (for USB drives, the file must be bootable and not from an ongoing OS).

Thank you for your response bu61.

I have the original Windows 7 CD and the key provided, using a USB key to install Windows is new for me.

To install from a USB key, you need: a USB key of at least 16 GB, a "bootable" Windows (the problem is that on the official website, you will only get Windows 10), when you install from the CD at the beginning of the installation, do you format the C: drive?

        RE,

For the formatting, yes I format both partitions before the installation; what I don't understand is that the hard drive works perfectly externally, I can even open both partitions like a USB stick.

The problem comes from the installation media (in your case, the Windows CD) and not from your hard drive. There is a topic on CCM, so here is the link: https://forums.commentcamarche.net/forum/affich-24872877-code-d-erreur-0x80070017. Other people are encountering the same error code, and it is also due to their installation media. You can re-download Windows 7 here: https://www.microsoft.com/fr-fr/software-download/windows7 with your current activation key.

      Thank you for your response,

I formatted my disk to NTFS and there will be no impact on the installation?
