Welcome to the forum, WshLaStreet :)
If the internal hard drive of the computer is no longer detected, it would be good to do a test: turn off the PC and unplug it; remove the battery from the laptop and hold down the power button for a long time (for about 30 seconds). Remove the hard drive and then put it back in. If there are no results, it is very likely that the hard drive itself is suffering from some deficiencies.
By the way, is the laptop still under warranty? I'm asking because physical interventions void a valid warranty.
Once the test is done and if you do not see any changes, try testing the hard drive externally or in another PC (as a secondary hard drive) to see how it reacts. Don't hesitate to try accessing the content via a data recovery software https://forums.commentcamarche.net/forum/affich-37640569-recuperer-des-donnees-sur-disque-dur-et-cle-usb to see if the hard drive will be detected. If you manage to recover the contents, a hard drive diagnosis would be recommended. To do this, use appropriate software, just as this article discusses: https://www.commentcamarche.net/informatique/composants/25371-tester-des-composants-de-pc-les-meilleurs-outils-gratuits/
I'm crossing my fingers! Keep me updated :)
