PlayStation 3 Hard Drive Installation Error 8001000b

Hello, as mentioned in the title, I'm trying to install an old laptop hard drive on my PS3. I put it in, turn on my console, it detects it, asks if I want to use it for saving my data, I say yes. The console then asks if I want to format the hard drive, I respond yes, it loads to about 20% and then I get ERROR 8001000b. I need help please, thank you.

Just in case, I have a 12 GB ultra slim Playstation 3, if you need more info, feel free to ask.

      Thank you, but that's exactly why I'm asking here, so I don't have to ask PlayStation for them to tell me (Buy a new hard drive for $99.99 or send them the console and hard drive for repairs for $59.99). But thanks anyway ;D.

      I have the same problem, the hard drive is recognized but the loading stops at 9% and boom error 8001000B, I need help please.
