I have a GPS via Michelin X970T Europe version, but I'm having a big problem with the installation on my PC equipped with Windows Vista Home Premium 32-bit.
I can't install the software provided with the GPS. Windows doesn't recognize the GPS, etc.
Has anyone encountered this problem and found a solution? Because I still haven't found one.
A big thank you to anyone who can give me a hand.

Hi
I'm forwarding you the letter from viamichelin, but are you sure it's the normal x970T and not the latest version, the X970T new edition? If that's the case, you won't find any updates on viamichelin anymore because they have abandoned this version.
We would like to inform you that an installation procedure for Windows Vista is available at the following page:
http://www.viamichelin.fr/viamichelin/fra/dyn/controller/SupportSearchFiche?type=GPFM&categorie=0&produit=219&fonction=&motif=&idfiche=336
If you encounter a synchronization issue, it is possible that you connected your device to the PC too early during the software installation. Therefore, the driver detected by Vista is not the correct one. For more information, we invite you to consult the following page:
http://www.viamichelin.fr/viamichelin/fra/dyn/controller/SupportSearchFiche?type=GPFM&categorie=0&produit=219&fonction=&motif=&idfiche=335
Hoping that this works, good luck!

I have a VM X-970T GPS that I can't configure on my Vista Home PC. Can someone tell me what to do? Thank you.
Personally, here is my solution, I combined two of the suggestions and it worked:
1) Click Start/Control Panel/System (the GPS must be connected to the PC via the USB cable)
2) Go to Device Manager under Mobile Devices (you can see your GPS: viamichelin...)
3) Right-click on the GPS and choose Update Driver Software...
4) Choose Browse my computer for driver software (the DVD provided with the GPS was in my PC)
5) Choose Let me pick from a list of device drivers on my computer
6) UNCHECK the box Show compatible hardware
7) Choose Manufacturer: Compal and Model: USB Sync 0302 (Microsoft Corporate)
8) Click Next and normally Windows Mobile Device opens and the screen of your GPS indicates not to remove the card.
After that, if it doesn't recognize anything, then go back to Device Manager -> Mobile Devices -> USB Sync 0302 -> Browse my computer for driver software -> Let me pick from a list -> Viamichelin (COMPAL) -> and your GPS will make a little beep and that's it!

I managed to install my x970-T on my Windows 7.
First, you need to install Windows Mobile and then install your GPS, which will not be recognized! You just need to manually update the driver and choose a mobile device from the list, then select Microsoft from the list of driver manufacturers and choose the first driver proposed, which is "USB Sync Device"; the Microsoft driver works for synchronization! Then, just install the Michelin manager from the DVD and you're good to go!!!
All the drivers proposed above never worked on any of my PCs! Only the method I've just mentioned is okay and tested! I found this method on this site; I wanted to provide a direct link, but I can't see it anymore! Good luck to everyone. The method is easy but time-consuming on the road!

Hello, despite all your instructions, and even after trying the Compal 0302 driver, I still can't synchronize with my GPS x970t... also, I can't find the patch you mentioned, could you send it to me directly please? The Compal driver I have is not dated like yours, could you send me the correct one please or give me a download link? I just bought it knowing that there would be no more map updates, but I would still be interested in having a map of Europe; could someone tell me how to find one to put on an SD card that the device will accept?
Thank you for your help.
Thank you for your help.
Hello everyone, I have a little issue with the X970T. When I disconnect from the PC, the beast keeps the connected icon, and it only disappears when I unplug the USB cable. How can I avoid this risky maneuver? Thank you all.
Thank you avinoche for the message on Monday, March 31, 2008 at 7:14:21 PM that helped me solve my issue.
For your information:
Windows Vista configuration
GPS X-970T
The GPS was displayed in the device manager but was not synchronizing with the PC.
The problem was indeed due to the driver version. I updated it using your procedure and it worked immediately.
Thanks again.

Hello,
have you tried contacting the hotline? They are the ones who pointed me to the right patch to download for successfully installing and registering with ViaMichelin. They give you the correct drivers and installation procedure for your GPS X970T. I have Vista, and when I bought it in July, it was impossible to install because the program provided with the GPS was not correct. Their response is not always very quick, but the advantage is that it works.
Good luck

Unable to install the X970T. I have Windows XP SP2 and I keep getting either: invalid data, or "this device is not configured correctly".
Has anyone had this issue? I've been desperately trying to install it for a week now.
Thank you

Hello pguegen2
The best thing to do is to ask the hotline for the correct patch to download from their site without using the provided DVD. Since I don't have the same version as you, I don't think the patch number is the same because I am on version 6.5 on the GPS and Vista on the PC.
Here is the hotline address, they respond quite quickly.

Hello,
I think I have the solution. At least, it works for me. I struggled quite a bit with customer support.
The setup: VM 970T new edition or V7 on a Vista Pro PC
By default, when you connect your VM to the USB cable, there's a good chance that the viamichelin 970T driver is a very old version validated by Microsoft v1.0.2.1
Go to Device Manager when your VM is connected, under mobile devices you will see VM.
Right-click "Properties" tab "Driver" if it's V1.0.2.1 it will never work! And the VM patches won't help (according to my experience) at all
Right-click "Update ..."
Search for a driver on my computer
"Let me choose from a list....."
And there, 2 versions appear either from Microsoft or Compal.
Microsoft's version is necessarily default and doesn't work, choose the Compal version and everything should be back to normal.
The driver version is then 1.0.1000.0 from 15/03/07
Good luck

Hello,
I just wanted to thank you for your guidance, which helped me resolve my connection issue with my Viamichelin 970 T V7 that I bought a month ago.
By following your instructions, I managed to register my GPS on the viamichelin website and install the software provided on the DVD.
It wasn't easy to find, but in the end, the result is there.
Thank you
See you soon!

I have a version 6.5 and I am encountering the same problem with my x970T. My computer is on XP and I can't get my computer to communicate with the GPS, as for the installation DVD, it shows nothing!
All of this is a bit complicated for someone uninitiated, not everyone is a computer expert.

Hello,
I just installed everything on my ViaMichelin 970 Europe TMC and during the GPS installation via Bluetooth, my phone connected to the GPS gives me "data packet transmission failed." What should I do? Thank you.

Hello,
By Toutatis, you're lucky that this fix resolved your problem. For me, I only have one version that displays when I do the search. However, in the end, I do have version 1.0.1000.0 from 03/15/07 for the driver and yet I still get the message: "please connect the mobile device." My GPS is turned on, the original map is properly installed (it is not in lock position), and I don't have any other applications open. We tried with a PC running Vista 32-bit and another one with XP Home Edition version 2. Could you please provide me with the patches for the VM X970T Europe?
Thank you

I installed the VM software on my computer.
At the end of the installation and also when I try to start the Content Manager, the computer gives me the following error:
