Damaged Money file?

Hello,

I managed to open an old version of my Money file as well as the associated backup file. But they are from April 2017. At least I am sure that the Passport password was correct.
I then tried to repair the 2018 Money file using salv.exe. At the end of the process, I get the following error message:
"The repair utility was unable to recover your file. Repair a different version of your file, restore a backup file, or reinstall Money. Also, ensure that your file is not set to read-only. (0x800a1462)"
But a repair file has been created, the same size as the original. When I try to open it, I again get the message:
"Microsoft Money has detected that you did not close the file
repair2018 (the name of the file created during the repair attempt) before exiting.
Money wants to check the data status of the file. If your file
is large, this process might take a few minutes.
Do you want Money to perform this check
now?
If you click No, you will need to open a new Money file."

Whether I click yes or no, I always get the message "incorrect address or password...".
Is there any other way to repair a file?
I tried OfficeRecovery but I get: "Sorry, no recoverable data was detected."
Thank you

Configuration: Windows / Firefox 62.0

Good evening,
That didn't solve it because I already tried. I found these links on CCM and followed them scrupulously for the uninstallation and reinstallation. Unfortunately, my last valid backup dates back to April 2017. I would love to be able to access the one from October 2018... I don't have an intermediate one.

Hello;

Not at all sure this will solve your problem but I suggest you do what is indicated >> On this link
Restart the machine then reinstall MsMoney >> Here
Launch MsMoney from the latest valid backup

Edit >> See this link as well as >> This one

Hello;

If you've tried the proposed solutions (including the 2 Edit links) and nothing worked, I believe it’s unfortunately over for recovering the latest backup!

I don’t know the number of transactions you have on your account(s), but if the only backup available to recover is from April 2017, I personally would continue with that one by updating everything either manually or by importing the OFX files via your bank >> In fact, it's not as long as it seems since the transactions are repetitive... Do a test for 1 month and see if MsMoney properly retains and backs up the latest transactions, and if so, continue with that principle... because I don’t see any other solutions besides starting from scratch, but it's a shame to often lose years of account tracking.

Good evening,
Good news finally. I still haven't managed to open my corrupted files, but I called my bank to find out the list of software I could use to download their statements, other than Money. An advisor informed me that with a simple click on "archived transactions," this service allows me to download my bank movements from the last two years. 6 euros per account. At least I won't have to manually record each transaction. I'll just need to check everything and re-categorize, but what time saved! The participants in an English forum dedicated to MS Money have been particularly helpful. Thanks to them. I will keep the address of this forum safe and share it with you: https://social.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/home?forum=money
And of course, I will make backups more often... Best regards!

Hello;

Thank you for the feedback and I'm glad to hear that everything is back on track!
I didn't know that banks kept the option for paid downloads for several years, too bad it's paid but at least it is helpful!
As for backups, they should be done regularly and on 2 media for safety!
I mark the subject as resolved!

Have a great day
