Money 2005 Software Update File Solved

Question

Hello,
When installing Money 2005, after a few seconds it indicates that an update is available that will result in version 14 -0120-1105.

How can we save or intercept this update as a file and be able to reapply this update after a reinstallation of the original MONEY 2005 version, offline? Because this automatic update may not always be available over time, as evidenced by the fact that version 2006 has been released.

thank you for the response, but at this address Microsoft explains how to know the update level of Money, and how to download the update.
The problem is that the update is done automatically and installs automatically. However, what I'm looking for is a way to retrieve and be able to install this update whenever I want. For example, launching the installation of the update from a file.
Because if one day Microsoft decides to stop distributing this update because it's too old, I won't be able to read my mny or mbf files after reinstalling the base version, so it's in the update.

Re: Normally all Windows updates are located in c:\Windows under this folder aspect KB$88974564.... something like that, what you can do is note the ones that are already there and when you install the Money update, there will be a new one and you can set it aside

I have an old version of Money that is getting worse and worse (it poorly accepts a new operation (unable to perform an operation), the hourglass is always running, refuses to balance an account, it's really a hassle. I wanted to install Money 2005 financial suite and recover my accounts that I had saved, but it refuses. What should I do?? Am I obligated to delete the old Money, install Money 2005, and copy my transactions for 2006 and 2007 line by line????????? Thank you for your help.

When I open Money, here is the message I receive, I don't know what to do

"An update is available for your Money software. To install it, you must be logged in as a member of the administrators group.
Log out of your Windows session and log in again as a member of the administrators group. Restart this program to install the update."

Hello, if you are working on Vista, when you are on the money icon, you need to right-click and then go to the line "Run as administrator." Click on it, and then the update will proceed without issue.

I have a recent problem with the online update of money.
I open the money page, click at the bottom on online update, then click on: update now; after a few seconds a window tells me / Your call was successful. I click OK, nothing is registered. If I click on: Click here to read the background tele-services messages.
I read: An error occurred during your last call, please contact technical support.
I am at LA BANQUE POSTALE; I called the service, and they made me do a lot of manipulations, the new transactions were registered on money.
The next day, I tried the normal method again by clicking on "online update", and I got the same response "an error occurred, etc., etc........
So I repeated all the manipulations to have the new bank data displayed on money. Before, it had been working well for several years.
If anyone knows the solution to make it work normally, please let me know.

I have been managing my accounts with Money for years. With the 2003 version, I have the column sizes for number and date that are not appropriate for the information entered. Having recently purchased the 2005 version, I notice the same problem. Have you had the same issue? Can this be resolved? Thank you in advance.

The automatic update was completed almost 4 days after the installation. I think that installing money while online with a passport.net identifies the license and then generates the automatic update in return.
If this update is a bit delayed, I think we need to wait a little. In any case, I was able to review all my files after the update.

but to make it work, I have to change my system date to 2005.

To run Money as an administrator on the Vista Home Premium OS.
The option can be found by right-clicking on the Start menu and Money.
The option does not exist for a shortcut on the desktop.

Valid for my OS.

I have long found the combination that allows me to reinstall Money 2005 and receive the update automatically (in fact, I don't know of any other way to save the update file, which is quite unfortunate!).

1.- I install Money
2.- I create a "dummy" database that I will delete later.
3.- The update takes place.
4.- I retrieve my usual file!

Microsoft's attitude is regrettable and resembles contempt, especially since version 2005 was followed by more recent versions in the USA!

I'm also unable to open the old Money files. I was on Vista Pro before and now I'm on Seven Pro. On Vista, the workaround worked, the update was done, but now nothing works. I've created a dummy file, launched Money as an admin each time, but every time it prompts me to install the update. It says it is installed and that I need to restart Money, then it’s a never-ending loop :D Could someone who has it working upload their "MNYCoreFiles" folder somewhere? Just to give it a try by pasting it in. Thank you.

Strange, for my part I haven't had any major problems. Windows XP (Pro), Vista, and now 7 (on 3 different PCs), every time the same story, you need to be connected, install the software, and create a new account. At that point, it updates, then you have to close and reopen the existing account; for me, it works (I've been using Money since 1998).  It took me a little time to figure this out, but since then I've gotten used to it.  However, I would like to find a solution to download and install this famous update without being connected to the internet. If anyone has the solution.  Chris

Under Windows 7: right-click on the money icon in the list of programs, click on properties, select compatibility, check "administrator" in privilege level, click apply. The updates will then be downloaded.

Thank you to those who replied to me. Unfortunately, nothing has worked on any of the computers I use, including one where Money 2005 was installed under Windows XP and worked perfectly, until the day it refused to open my msmoney file claiming it couldn't find it, just like it does on the computer where I wanted to reinstall it after formatting and on a computer running Vista...  I eventually despaired, going through thirteen years of accounts (not easy, because I had relied on Money to track certain purchases) and bought a small shareware software from emjysoft (email address emjysoft@free.fr). It’s not expensive (about fifteen euros a year) but much more limited than Money, as it doesn’t allow breakdowns of parts of the same transaction, nor does it balance an account, and some operations are not exactly straightforward. However, backups are apparently very secure; I've never had any issues with them... I now only use this software for my accounting starting January 1, 200) and it takes up very little space on the disk: the backup of 20 months of accounts, for about fifteen accounts, occupies 325 KB.
