Wi-Fi network compromised according to Norton

Solved

Hello,

On my phone, there is a Norton message that has been displaying since last night: this network is compromised by an unknown third party that can see and modify your communications. However, nothing on the computer. In the address bar, I still have the lock and https, whether on the computer or on the phone.

So I'm wondering if there really is a problem with the wifi at home or if it's just Norton trying to push me to subscribe to Wifi Privacy?

Thank you in advance for your responses.

Hello,

Log into your box and check which devices are connected.

It's possible that Norton will flag a device as unknown, such as a printer, a smartphone, etc., while it's one of your devices.

Thank you! I think that was it.

I went to the box. There was one of my old phones marked as unreachable, which I put "forget" on. And two other unreachable devices that I was stumped on at the time, until I realized it was my e-reader and my DVD player. I turned them on to check, then renamed them so I wouldn't forget for a possible next time.

Then I went to check on my phone in Norton Mobile Security and now it tells me that the Wi-Fi network is secure.

No more or less secure than before, but well...
Once again, he should just do his job.

Yes, that would work for me... because that bastard woke me up by making the phone vibrate and ring twice in the middle of the night!!! I put it on silent to avoid smashing it against the wall on the third ring...

Hello,
A Norton update fixes the issue.

Good evening, I have the same problem but my antivirus is up to date. Is there another solution?

An update and the message disappears.
A bug with Norton?

The update also fixed my problem... But indeed, they are happy to sell us Wi-Fi protection ;-(

Hi,
just Norton trying to push me to subscribe to Wifi Privacy?

Probably, yes.
I'm fed up with these antiviruses who step out of their job to control what supposedly happens around, and who just want to sell extensions.

and ... there you go!

Hello, I have the same problem since yesterday and I find it immoral. I will try to write a letter about it.

Immoral?
Commerce?

Hello, I have the same message, and after some research on my Wifi network, nothing unusual in the logs, etc...
I think that Norton wants us to take a paid option (WiFi Privacy)!!!!
I took the opportunity to add in the configuration menu on the first page at the top left in the section
comment to rate them 1, and to add a negative comment because the information displayed in red "compromised network" is misleading and false. I am very unhappy with Norton on this point. If Norton does not correct this issue, I will switch applications.

Yes, it's clear that it's scary to see that pop up, especially when you don't know too much like me... So I don't know if it's the fact that I played around with my box that made the "problem" disappear or if Norton updated in the meantime. It hasn't happened again since, in any case.

I received the same message from Norton on the same day and I tend to think like you because the only solution they offer me is to purchase Norton Privacy.

So,
Norton is a scam, like other modern antivirus software.

Hello, thank you for your posts. Thanks to you, I was able to fix the problem and it’s true that it's scary to get a message saying that you are hacked from all sides on your WiFi network. It’s bad that Norton is capable of that. I'm switching my antivirus as soon as my subscription ends (in a few days).

Hello, I also have the issue and I also think it's a commercial maneuver.
If it happens again for me, it's not complicated, I will close my Norton account and go to a competitor.

Hello,

For my part, my network is well secured with WPA2 personal Wi-Fi and a long password. Additionally, I limit access by allowing only my devices' MAC addresses. UPnP is disabled as it poses a risk.
I still receive this message from Norton Security: Your personal data and communications are exposed to an attacker on this network. The network is compromised.
1). No information displayed on the risk.
However, of course, Norton offers for a fee the use of Norton Security Privacy.
It’s just to scare and force beginners to take this paid option in my case.
