Create a private wifi from a wifi network

Hello,

I’m trying to express myself as best as I can and to be understood clearly.

I’m in the process of moving, and I’ve found temporary accommodation in a sort of campsite.

In this accommodation, we can have paid wifi, but we cannot get a box (there’s no phone socket).

Since I have a NAS and Philips Hue lights, I would like to create my own wifi network and be able to connect the Hue bridge to a device.

Would a router suffice, or do I necessarily need an ethernet cable to make a router work?

Are there other possibilities for me?

Thank you.

    Hi,
a simple Wi-Fi access point, whether built into a router or not,
is enough to create a local network.
    A mobile hotspot works too.
A simple switch can also create an internet network.
A router that includes a switch and a Wi-Fi access point also provides a DHCP server.
    After that,
I'm not quite sure what your Philips Hue bridge is, other than it being a smart home accessory; do you have specific information about its functions?
I'm afraid it might be too specialized and not universal enough to do the things you want

Hello! Thank you very much for this response!

Actually, the Hue bridge is just a simple accessory that connects to the Ethernet port of a router and creates a link between each bulb. So, nothing too crazy.

Do routers have Ethernet ports or are they just signal amplifiers?

      Any product recommendations?

      Thanks again!

No, a router is not a signal amplifier, but we give them so many tasks today that they can also act as a repeater.
Yes, most of them have several Ethernet ports.

Thank you again for these answers, they are very helpful for my research.

For now, I can't find a router that uses a Wi-Fi connection to create a new Wi-Fi network. Because I won't have access to the box that generates the signal.

So I want to grab Wi-Fi to create Wi-Fi, I'm not sure if that can be done....
