WiFi network card not visible in ipconfig Solved

Question

Hello,

I am installing a Realtek RTL8191SE WiFi PCI-E network card on a new computer running Windows 7 64-bit. I have installed the latest driver (V2020.4.0620.2011) from the ma-config.com website.

Unfortunately, I am not detecting any WiFi networks. When I run the Windows repair utility, it tells me there is an issue with the card and that's it. When I perform IPCONFIG/ALL, the card does not appear...

Do you have any ideas? Thank you in advance
(the card is not the issue, it works on another computer with XP)

Good evening,

Check in the device manager if everything is okay regarding the network; if you have a yellow ? or !, reinstall the driver.
You should have two cards, one Ethernet card and then a Wi-Fi (wireless) card.

Hello,
maybe the installed driver is not the right one for W7 64bits, go to Device Manager, uninstall the driver, restart the computer and Windows 7 should load the driver and find the right one automatically.

What intrigues me, though, is that the card does not appear when we run ipconfig/all!
My wired card is indeed present; I disabled it to see if there is any conflict with it, and the same thing happened... (it's also a Realtek)

On my laptop, I can enable and disable Wi-Fi with the F2 key.
Is there something similar on a desktop PC?
This could be a starting solution?

N.B. I don't see anything in the BIOS, unless I'm not looking properly...

take a screenshot of your ipconfig /all

I only see one thing, the driver is not the right one,

also try uninstalling the driver via the device manager, then restart the PC, Windows should detect new hardware and should install the driver by itself.

Normally, Windows 7 has drivers, so there’s no need to install another driver.

If the same issue persists, go to the Realtek website and look for the driver.

it's strange your problem, the card has an issue, normally
in your ipconfig, we should at least see your wifi card with "media disconnected"

have you tried disabling the ethernet network card, and running an ipconfig /all again, then see if you can see it.

Well,
after many adventures, I just found the solution by picking up on an idea from a fellow forum member who had a problem with the installation of an Ethernet card that wasn’t visible when "pinging" it.
Their issue stemmed from their Kaspersky antivirus blocking the IP layer, if I understood correctly!
For me, disabling Microsoft Antivirus and ZoneAlarm didn’t do anything, so I decided to completely uninstall the firewall and, miracle of miracles, the card found the Wi-Fi networks after a reboot of the machine!!!
I am saved; in conclusion, beware of all security programs...
I just reinstalled ZoneAlarm without configuring anything in particular and everything is working!
The mystery of computing...
If any of you have a rational explanation for the phenomenon (and don’t tell me that ZoneAlarm is crap...), I’m all ears.
