Hello, After turning off my computer, I cut the power from a power strip. I turn the computer back on and it gives me "checking and repairing drive C:" Is there a way to fix it through the command prompt or troubleshooting? Thank you.

After typing sfc /scannow in the command prompt, a message appears saying "Windows Resource Protection failed to perform the requested operation."

And I restarted, and it's still the same thing.

Ouch... generally, only a factory reset can truly fix this error... because it's a hassle otherwise
Let's not panic, let's act as if we didn't see anything!

Have you run a complete chkdsk c: /f on the machine? It takes several hours but if your system is asking you to do it, there is a reason.

Hello!

The analysis and repair of drive c: is still running at startup.
It’s just a simple
chkdsk c: /f
that you can run from the command prompt, except it will (once again) be launched at startup.

Don't hesitate to do it during moments when you’re not using the PC too much.

In the meantime, running a
sfc /scannow
to detect and fix any integrity issues in system files could be a good idea. This scan, also launched from an elevated command prompt, can however be executed alongside your PC usage. It does not run at startup.

Hello,

Run a checkdisk in the command line.
Then check if you have any errors in the Health tab of HD Tune.
Launch HD Tune, go to the health tab, and see if you have any yellow or red lines.
Do this for all hard drives, if you have multiple ones, you can use the dropdown menu at the top left to switch drives.

Not a good update on the state of the disk.
You should perform a HD Tune check, Health tab with the Malekal Live CD for example: https://www.malekal.com/malekal-live-cd-reparer-depanner-pc-windows/

The steps are basically:

- The installer will tell you that Windows is already present and offer to move it.
Do not format, especially.

Your user data will be copied into a subfolder of Windows.old.

Let yourself be guided.

NOTE: The Windows 10 installer includes repair tools, the "repair computer" menu on the first screen.
You can try resetting Windows, it might work better.

When I launch Rufus, it doesn't start right away and then I get a message telling me that it has been too slow... the same for the Win10 ISO: "The service did not respond quickly enough, etc."

PS: I have a second computer, I'm avoiding any confusion.

I just noticed that I can no longer install anything on this computer. What should I do?

For me, I ran
chkdsk c: /f
and the option to reset my computer was there (with the possibility to keep personal files).

The looping check disks generally stem from hardware issues with the drive.
You need to check the hard drive.
