Hello,

I have an HP Compaq DC 7800 (desktop) that had Windows 7 installed. The system crashed and I want to reinstall another system, but every time I try, I receive a message like: "Cannot install Windows on this disk." When I go into the details to see the reasons, I find this message: "The hardware of this computer may not support booting from this disk. Please check that the disk controller is enabled in the BIOS menu of the computer."

Please help me enable or disable the hard disk controller in the BIOS if necessary.

Thank you very much in advance and have a great day everyone.

Configuration: Windows / Chrome 67.0.3396.79

    Hello,

First, I will invite you to access your computer's BIOS using the following steps:

As soon as the computer is powered on, press the F10 key when the monitor's light
turns green to access the Computer Setup utility.

Then this menu (BIOS) will appear:

Use the arrow keys to select the Advanced tab. [ADVANCED] in English

If in the line "SATA CONTROLLER" it says [DISABLED], press Enter to enable the hard drive controller. It should say [ENABLED]

If you wish to use IDE mode, the SATA controller (or SATA Controller 1) can be set to [Disabled]. This prevents Windows from looking for the SATA controller driver.

That's it, I hope I was clear, feel free to reach out to me whenever you want

    Have a good day
