Keyboard / mouse not detected after W10 reset.

Hello everyone,

I’m not used to posting on forums because usually, I always find THE topic (often on a forum, in fact) that brings a solution to my problem, and everything ends well.

Today is different. I will try to explain my problem as best as I can and the things I have already tried to fix it. I hope that, by chance, someone can help me.

WHAT IS MY PROBLEM?
Last night, I decided to reset my HP desktop computer to factory settings (removing all applications, folders, and settings) using the "Reset this PC" function in Windows 10. It took all night while I was sleeping. Here’s the screen I woke up to: https://puu.sh/tQPNk/1288a1ccf1.png
So far, so good, except that… Neither my keyboard nor my mouse is responding. So I cannot control my PC and finish the reset.

WHAT HAVE I ALREADY TRIED? Small clarification: When I say "turn off the PC", it means pressing the power button for about 5-10 seconds until everything shuts down at once.
- Turning off the PC and turning it back on: NO CHANGE
- Turning off the PC, unplugging the power cable, and pressing the power button for 30 seconds: NO CHANGE. Just in case, I did it several times, waiting 1 minute and even 2 minutes: NO CHANGE
- Testing all my USB ports and identifying which ones are connected directly to my motherboard = the ones at the back. I specify that they are all USB 2.0
- Turning off the PC, turning it back on, and during the Windows startup, shutting it down. Unplugging the power cable and pressing the power button for 30 seconds. Plugging the cable back in and turning the PC back on: NO CHANGE
- Going into the BIOS. I must clarify that with my mechanical USB keyboard, I couldn't access it. I had to find a standard USB keyboard after much effort, and with that keyboard, I could access the BIOS. Once in the BIOS, I rummaged around until I found a setting called "USB Security" where you can enable or disable each USB port. They were all already enabled, so I did not change anything. NO CHANGE
- On forums, some say you need to enable the "USB legacy support" setting, but I can't even find it in my BIOS. Maybe it’s only on certain PCs? Besides, my BIOS does not "look like" the other BIOS (maybe newer? older? different model?) that I have found in screenshots on support forums. Here are a few "screenshots" (or rather photos) of what my BIOS looks like. https://image.noelshack.com/fichiers/2017/06/1486387330-bios-1.jpg

- I also did a CMOS clear (removed the round battery for 25 minutes then put it back). NO CHANGE

LAST CLARIFICATIONS
- I have no PS/2 port, let alone a PS/2 keyboard or mouse or adapter, and this solution is not feasible since I live quite far from the nearest city, so I can’t get one quickly
- Many of my friends who "know a bit" have tried to help me, without success
- I did the same reboot last night on my laptop, and I had no problem finishing the reset because the built-in touchpad on the laptop allowed me to click Next and finish the reboot

TO SUM UP
- I can access my computer's BIOS via a USB 2.0 keyboard (plugged into the back of the PC, on the motherboard), but that’s the only place where my keyboard is detected. The mouse is not detected either, but in any case, it is not usable in the BIOS. I think there is a function disabled in the BIOS, but which one? How can I get my keyboard (and mouse) to be recognized at startup and thus finish the Windows 10 reset? (1st screenshot)

I am calling on your expertise for my desperate case.
Thank you in advance to everyone who took the time to read this.

Best regards,

Eurybie

Finally, I went to see a computer repair technician. After trying a bunch of things, he suggested that it might be due to Windows 10 having "malfunctioned" during the reset process when formatting.

He then reinstalled Windows 10 from a USB stick (by programming the BIOS to boot from the USB stick first) and, indeed, once Windows 10 was reinstalled, the keyboards/mice worked.

Everything is back in order for €89.

Case closed.
