Keyboard and mouse unusable during restoration Solved

Question

Hello,  I want to format my PC, I have the Windows disk.  No matter how I proceed, whether through the control panel / recovery or by using the disk at startup, the problem is the same.  My keyboard and mouse do not respond anymore when I am in the menu to reinstall Windows, language choice. They worked before, if I want to access the BIOS they function, the light on the keyboard and mouse is on, but when I get to the menu: nothing! The devices turn off.  I have tried with other keyboards and mice, but nothing works.  Does anyone happen to know the cause? Is it possible to fix it?  Thank you in advance, Best regards.

hello  there's a good chance that both of your devices are USB, or worse: wireless (but even in that case, there's always a USB at the start).  so you need to enable the mouse and keyboard in the BIOS options so that they are supported at startup of the PC (outside of Windows)  otherwise, one solution: a good old wired keyboard, in PS2 same for the mouse  if there's only one port on the PC, there are adapters available to connect both  also, be aware that you need to have selected the DVD drive as first in the boot list of the BIOS

Hello,  Thank you for your responses and I apologize for my delayed reply.  Nadellen, I indeed have the keyboard and mouse connected via USB, wired. Unfortunately, my motherboard does not have any PS2 connections...  I have an ASUS BIOS, with "ez mode" and "Advanced mode." In the latter, I have access, in the "Advanced" tab, to a USB configuration menu.  In this menu, it shows that I have: 1 keyboard, 2 mice, 4 hubs. Then I have 3 options: Legacy USB Support (enable), Legacy USB 3.0 Support (enable), EHCI Hand-off (disable).  I don't see how to enable the mouse and keyboard.  Otherwise, I have selected the DVD drive as the first boot device.  Jumulka, I don't see any "XHCI pre-boot mode" option in my BIOS, I've looked everywhere but found nothing.  So I'm a bit lost, I don't know what to do.  Best regards.

Apparently, the XHCi thing would be the legacy USB 3.0 support, which I disabled.  Indeed, I still have the mouse and keyboard lit up during the restoration, even though the computer now says it doesn't detect any keyboard or mouse.  But I don't know why, it's impossible to use them anyway!

Well,  I must be really bad, I didn't realize I had old USB ports. I plugged the keyboard and mouse into them and it worked! So I was able to format my PC.  Well, now I don't know what to do haha! I can't even connect to the internet; it doesn't detect a network card, it tells me.  I'll manage to figure it out :)  Best regards.

Hi,  If your peripherals are connected to a USB 3.0 port, it may not work. You need to connect your devices to a non-USB 3.0 port... so that the BIOS recognizes them.
