Hello,
I have a little problem with my television.
I would like to watch the movies and series stored on my USB stick on my TV. However, my TV doesn't have a USB port (it's quite an old one).
So I tried to connect my USB stick to my decoder (the Canal Plus cube), which has 2 USB ports. But when I plug in the stick, my TV tells me to initialize the hard drive to be able to read what's on it afterwards (I still don't understand why it's mentioning a hard drive when it's a USB stick...). I had already tried the experiment (with a friend's stick), and once "the hard drive is initialized," the TV told me "you already have a hard drive, playback impossible" or something like that.. (result: My friend could no longer watch the movies on his stick because of me!). And I still didn't understand anything...
So I have no idea how to proceed, are there any steps to follow? Do I really have to go through my decoder? Or should I use my SFR box, which also has a USB port? I'm pretty lost...
PS: My TV works with SCART as I don't have an HDMI cable.
I'm not at all knowledgeable about this... Hard drive, TV, USB, box... All of this is giving me a headache ^^
Any response would be welcome, thank you in advance!

"'to initialize the hard drive so that it can later read what is on it (I still don't understand why it's talking to me about a hard drive when it's a USB key...)"
-This USB port on the cube is supposed to be used to record TV...in a "proprietary" format, which is why it asks to format the hard drive; therefore, the recordings made can only be played back on the device that recorded them (if your neighbor has a cube, the recordings made at your place will not be playable at theirs)
-On the USB input, you can connect a hard drive or a USB key; the cube refers to a hard drive because, to it, they are the same
