Hello,
I am on Windows 10 and I would like to share my printer with my husband's PC, which is running Windows 7.
I managed to do it with his old PC which was on Windows XP, and now I am unable to do it; I don't remember the procedure and I'm struggling.
Could you explain to me simply how to proceed?
Thank you for your help.
Configuration: Windows / Firefox 43.0

Now I have an error message 0x00000709: check that the printer name is correct and that the printer is connected to the network.

Hi
Are you going to mess with people for a long time with your back and forth?
You are discouraging resources on one forum and going back to another... and Versailles high school
As for your question, that's not where it is, and I've already told you..
But it's certain that trying to catch two hares at once leads to confusion..

The printer is properly connected to the router, it's on the PCs that I don't know what to do!

I made a mistake, the printer is not connected to the box but to the outlet.
My ISP is Free and the printer is a HP Photosmart C4680.-
Here is a tutorial for Free by connecting the printer via USB to the box

:-) ... do you find that practical??
It is assumed that it is shared under W10 since it worked with the XP PC
Under W7, you just need to go to Control Panel === Devices and Printers === Add a printer and follow the wizard
That said, I don't see the connection between the USB-connected printer and Wi-Fi??? -

Hello,
it's a USB printer...
what does that have to do with the WiFi in the title?
You share it over the network on your PC, giving it a share name.
Make sure file and printer sharing is enabled, as well as the network set to private (not public).
On the other PC, install a network printer and enter the UNC address:
\\PC name\printer share name or the PC's IP address, if it's fixed instead of the name.
--
and ... There you go! -
Printer sharing is enabled.
When I click add a printer on my husband's PC, add a network printer, no printer was found.
When I click on the printer I want that is not listed, I read:
Searching for a printer by name or TCP/IP address
- Searching for a printer
- Select a shared printer
- View a printer using a TCP/IP address or hostname.
What should I do?-
Are you sure the printer is shared?
On the W10 PC do:
Press and hold the Windows key, press the R key and release them both
Type (or copy/paste to avoid typing mistakes) in the dialog box that opened
cmd /k net share > int.txt & notepad int.txt
then click on Ok
Copy/paste what appears on the screen into your next response. -

In displaying the basic network information, I see:
My husband's PC (this computer)....................my wifi ..................internet
When I click on display the entire network, I see:
My husband's PC .....my wifi .........my PC ........Switch .......Gateway.........Internet -
I cannot display computers and network devices.
