1 long beep + 3 short beeps + 1 short beep and PC shutdown

Hello,

On a a PC with a ASUS P5QL PRO motherboard, when I start the PC, I get this series of beeps (See the title)

From time to time, I get to the UEFI BIOS home page and only once have I been able to access the BIOS content.
Another time, I got the following messages:
"Status USB over current detected"
disk not detected,
keyboard not detected
Another time, 4 lines on the graphics card and a blinking cursor.
I tried the PCI EXPRESS graphics card and the power supply unit on another PC, as the graphics card has an additional power connector.
The graphics card and the power supply unit work fine.
I tried another simple PCIE graphics card, same problems.
I connected a USB keyboard, same problems (original keyboard with PS2 connector)
I disconnected the USB ports from the front of the motherboard.
I tested each of the 4 memory sticks,
I did a Clear-CMOS by removing the BIOS battery.

I don't know what to do anymore, maybe buy a new processor to replace the existing one?
The motherboard seems fine ....?

    Yes, I cleared the CMOS by removing the battery and moving the jumper. I connected a USB keyboard and another PS2 keyboard.
    I even ordered a microprocessor which I received this morning.
    There's nothing to do, it won't start and I get a long beep, followed by 3 short beeps, a pause, a short beep, and the PC shuts down.

    I can only see one problem left with the motherboard :-(

      Hi, all I can say is that 1 long beep + 2 short beeps indicates a display problem (graphics card or adapter).

    Hello everyone,

    Best wishes for this New Year 2016.

    I've finally replaced the motherboard with its little sister (family story), bought used.

    The PC started up and works well, except now it refuses to activate the Windows 7 (OEM) license.
    I know it's a major change, but it's exactly the same board.
    I'll try to call Microsoft, but Santa has gone home.

      Activation should not be a problem if it is unique, meaning not used on another PC simultaneously... or if the license has already been activated 3 times within 6 months.
      Is the internet activation failing?
      What do they say at Microsoft?

    Hello,

    . Have you tried clearing the CMOS by removing the battery and moving the jumper from position 1-2 to position 2-3 for a minute, then returning it to the original position and putting the battery back?
    The jumper usually named CLR_CMOS on the motherboard is located near the battery or the HDD LED, power LED, etc.

    . Have you tested with another PS/2 keyboard? A USB keyboard? On all USB ports?

    Good evening,

    I was never able to get the series of numbers to activate this license over the phone, so I finally called Microsoft without providing those so-called numbers (not easy) and ended up with a "nice" representative who asked me for the license number of the product and finally told me it was blocked and that he couldn't do anything, advising me to call a second number, which I did.

    I had to try twice and ended up with exactly the same service, but this time, I had a rather unfriendly representative who once again asked for the license number. I thought it was a good idea to tell her that her colleague told me it was blocked.
    She replied that in that case, I needed to purchase a new license without any further discussion and that if it was blocked, it was because it was on another computer.
    Nice :-(

    Oh really?

    How is it possible that this PC has been working with this license for 2 years without encountering this problem?

    It was bought second-hand, could that be the reason?

      If the seller noted the license number before selling you the PC, he may have reactivated it on another PC. OEM licenses are meant to be active on only one PC at a time and are generally tied to that same and unique PC. The PC goes in the trash, and so does the license, to put it simply. On this last point, Microsoft is quite "cool"; it is tolerated to transfer a license from one PC to another when it involves hardware destruction, a configuration change, for example.
      Where it gets blocked systematically is when the MAC address of the motherboard's Ethernet card and the hard drive on which the license was activated are different during a new activation attempt. It is necessary to proceed with reactivation via the net within 3 days or call Microsoft; you know this last part.

      @guluc: To upgrade to Windows 10 for free, you must already have an eligible OS installed, which is not currently the case, and you must also ensure that the motherboard and CPU are compatible with Windows 10... and I wouldn't bet on this point with an ASUS P5QL PRO...........

      What I regret is that there is no way to explain things over the phone, they don't want to hear anything, too bad for the one who got taken :-(
      I wonder why the first person I spoke to asked me to call another number, they could have told me the same thing, we would have saved time ... and a phone call. ;-)

    1 license per computer motherboard changed, not the same serial number
    and upgrade to Windows 10, which is free

    The PC is not mine and I’m not going to tempt fate, I will return it and the person who bought it will eventually discuss it with their seller.
