Hello,

For about 2 months, suddenly, we have been experiencing the following issue: callers trying to reach us on our landline (Livebox Sagem) are being sent directly and automatically to our Orange voicemail. We haven't changed any settings, whether on the phone or with Orange. We have set 30 seconds (which is 6 rings) on the phone and 4 rings with Orange. Strangely, the problem has not been permanent but recurrent. I have tried everything, but to no avail, including with 3 Orange advisors who were notably incompetent on the subject. Did Orange make you perform a factory reset of the box? (not just a simple restart)

It's still the first thing to do..
Liveboxes are notorious for strange phenomena resolved by a factory reset against all logic.

Everyone has their opinion, but I don't share this approach except in cases of serious bugs or crashes. This solution is not only time-consuming but also risky. It is a "quick fix" for ISPs because it requires no research on their part and involves little time spent. Thank you anyway.

The explanation for the issue is in your question
If the Orange voicemail is picking up all your messages instead of your own answering machine, it’s simply because you have set fewer rings on the Orange answering machine (4) than on your own (6).
The answering machine that triggers first is the one with the fewest rings in its settings...

Reverse the settings... your answering machine set to 4 rings will take the missed calls, and if by chance your answering machine is turned off (power outage), then the Orange voicemail will answer after 6 rings.

 Very difficult to catch a black cat in a dark room.
 Especially when it's not there...

Hello,

Thank you for your reply. In fact, I have just changed the answering machine settings (in automatic mode, which means it activates after 20 seconds, or if I'm not mistaken, 20/5 = 4 rings) and 8 rings on the Orange voicemail for the umpteenth time today. I just called from my smartphone and it worked. That’s great but I don’t understand anything because I had already set it to automatic + 5 rings and it wasn’t working ??? Thank you for your help and you were right. Thanks again, hoping this won’t happen again. I will now wait for my wife to do the test before I "sell....kill". Best regards.

It's not logical

Even if the Orange voicemail was shorter, callers shouldn't have to go directly to the Orange voicemail.

Or else directly is misused or misunderstood on my part

Directly, for me, = I call and am immediately directed to a voicemail without any prior ringing.

Directly: yes, that's exactly what was happening. With my new settings (8 rings for Orange voicemail and 20 seconds = 5 rings for the phone's answering machine), everything is working again, of course, with the phone's answering machine. It seems that an inverted setting, favoring the Orange external voicemail, is not working or no longer works because "directly" on the Orange external voicemail for a reason I don't know and that Orange is unable to identify. I will therefore stick to the new settings and the phone's answering machine.
