Safe mode on Compaq

Hi,
I have a Compaq Presario CQ71 Notebook PC
I wanted to enter safe mode but when I pressed F11 to enter it, the system starts and takes me to the user window.
Can you guys help me, thanks in advance.

      I thought about it at first and I did it but nothing happened, and when I went to the "startup menu" it says that to enter recovery mode (safe mode) I need to press f11 and when I click it the PC directs me to the user choice window.
