The PC won't start even in safe mode

I've tried F5 again and here's what it offers me

- Safe Mode
- Safe Mode with Networking
- Safe Mode Command Prompt
- Log startup events to the event log
- VGA Mode
- Last Known Good Configuration
- Active Directory Restore Mode
- Debugging Mode
- Disable Automatic Restart on System Failure
- Start Windows Normally Restart
- Return to the Operating System Selection Menu

I've bolded what I've tried and doesn't work

Well, try then the command prompt and type c:chkdsk/f/r and press enter, then let the PC do its thing and it will restart on its own..

Same for me,
XP won't restart, even in safe mode, and this blue screen for a fraction of a second where I can only read that a problem has been encountered...
Does anyone have any idea of a procedure to recover the data?

On Vista, you have the option to repair the computer as long as it’s not a hardware failure. To do this, tap F8 or F5 multiple times when starting up the PC. You will come across a black menu with a line "Repair the computer" that will take you to another menu with "Startup Repair" and "System Restore." First, you choose the restore option, and if that doesn't work, you then select the repair option.

As a last resort, you can try the command line and type this command chkdsk c:/f/r

Are you good under Vista? There must be a key that allows access to that menu when the PC doesn't start up... Wait to see if a Vista user passes by... look at this photo

I already tried the F8 key and I get to the boot menu, there are 4 choices but I don't understand anything,
F5 doesn't do anything but with F2 I get to the Phoenix Award BIOS CMOS setup utility and I don't understand that either, and since it's XP I'm not sure the steps for Vista would work
what do you think?

I have a Dell Inspiron 530 and I'm running Windows Vista. I often have startup issues. It freezes when the word Microsoft Corporation appears and the loading bar keeps spinning without progress. Sometimes it does the same thing during shutdown. The little circle that spins while shutting down never stops, and I have to turn off the PC via the central unit. I don't know how to contact Dell by email because they tell me that my warranty has expired since I've had my computer since 2008. Thank you for helping me!

Do you still have the installation CD? If so, try a Windows repair or at worst, sniff, I know; a formatting...

Personally, I had pretty much the same problem as all of you. I asked a friend's dad for help. He took my computer and gave it back to me normal. No more startup failures, yay!

Hello everyone, I have a huge problem with my laptop, a Packard Bell, I have Windows XP, and for 2 days now I've been unable to access my desktop! I first tried to start Windows normally but a blue screen appeared, on which it says: "A problem has been detected and Windows has been shut down to prevent damage to your computer, UNMOUNT_BOOT_VOLUME [...] Technical information: *** STOP: 0x000000ED (0x8671EC08, 0xC000009C, 0x00000000, 0x00000000)
I followed various topics that said to press F9 or F5 and select safe mode, which I did but safe mode doesn't work, it takes me back to that blue screen! In fact, all the other modes also bring me back to this BLUE screen (whether it's safe mode with networking, command prompt in safe mode, or last known good configuration)! I can't do any virus scans or other attempts because I can't access my desktop. I don't know what to do anymore! Also, I don't have the Windows CD! If anyone has a solution, it would be great to help me, I'm desperate :(

Hello everyone, I have exactly the same problem with my Dell Inspiron 530. It all started when I was playing a game, and the PC froze and rebooted. I was faced with two options: start the PC normally or repair it (which brings me back to a blue screen saying there's a problem). The other option just restarts in a loop on that page. Of course, safe mode and everything else does the same thing, it restarts and returns to that page. The Vista installation CD to repair it doesn't work either; it just runs, loads, and shows a blue screen. I see no solution except for reformatting, which I've already done twice in less than six months --'

Unfortunately, I've never had an installation CD; everything was already on the hard drive when I bought the PC, and no CD was provided.
Are you sure there’s no other solution than formatting?

I have the same issue as you (I'm on XP).
However, I had a virus or malware just before.
This virus is "Malwaredoctor," which comes with "Security Tool," and it's "Security Tool" that is blocking my PC.
I hope formatting isn't the only solution...
Because there are things on my dad's work in the PC =(

When I click on Command Prompt, I have the choice between
- Microsoft Windows XP Home Edition
or
- Microsoft Windows XP Recovery Console

I would like to clarify that the PC that won't start is running XP, and the one that is working is running Vista.

Hello everyone, I obviously have the same problem as you, but for me, it's the second time! The first time I managed to recover my computer using the installation CD (by transferring what was on it to a USB stick since there is no CD-ROM drive on my Eeepc). So everything that was on my computer had been deleted (thankfully I had backups), but it was working perfectly. Until just a moment ago when it did exactly the same thing as the first time, meaning a black screen with white text and impossible to start even in safe mode... So I'm going to do AGAIN what I already did, which means deleting everything AGAIN and it's starting to get a bit annoying! So I don't know where this problem comes from, has it happened to you several times too, does it come from the computer itself, or a virus (which I would be quite surprised about...)? I still have the impression that this problem happens to quite a few people who have an Eeepc, so maybe it comes from that computer...
