Hello,

I don't have a Windows CD because my PC was purchased already installed; it's a Sony Vaio FS640_W.
F8 doesn't work: I select safe mode and then a blue screen appears and disappears very quickly, returning to the menu with safe mode; I choose safe mode again and it starts all over again.
To summarize: I want to recover data but
1/ I don’t have a Windows CD or any other help
2/ safe mode will not start (video problem? please see the message)

Thank you in advance to those who are knowledgeable

I don't know much about XP, but you should be able to manage
    with this repair console:

    Hello.

Start by tapping the Delete key, you'll be in the BIOS
Navigate to Load Default Settings on the right, press the
Enter key, then press F10 to save and exit.

      Thank you!!

I made this change but it doesn't affect the result... still the blue screen when I try to start safe mode.

So you can't start in any mode.
    Also respond, XP or VISTA?
