Printing issue different from the view

I am using Word 2013. I know the function to modify size and position, but it is not effective for my problem. The image is set to properties of 21*29.9 and centered. However, there is still this white space on the right side of my page that won't go away! It's unbearable! As for the rectangle, I find it is not difficult to position it correctly, and it is actually the only solution to achieve the desired effect (impossible with brightness and contrast adjustments).

I am encountering the same problem today on another document, which is quite depressing. This time, the white space (I don't use margins to avoid confusing it with the Word meaning of that word, although it is basically the same thing) is at the bottom. In summary, on a landscape page, the white space is on the right, and when I switch to portrait, it is at the bottom.

I would also like to add that if I put text on this space, it does not print either, as Word behaves as if this part of the A4 page was not within the boundaries, yet I am indeed set to 21 * 29.7, and everything looks fine in normal view of my doc. Basically, it’s as if my page were less than 29.7.

The problem when you set a background color under page layout is that, on one hand, it applies to the entire document, and on the other hand, when printing, Word does not take it into account, and this applies to all versions of Word. Still stuck but thank you for your persistence!

Another strange thing is that I did a test: I added a border to my page, and the result is that the bottom of the border in the print preview is cut off, at the same level as the white area in the posted example, as if nothing could be placed at the bottom of my page. However, still in the preview, as shown in the example, the rectangle enclosing the page clearly includes the small white part at the bottom of the page. In short, I'm going crazy...

By inserting a cover page with a "Perspective" template for example, which includes a background, you just need to change the color to your desired one (and remove the two white drawings from the top right). Once the document is finished, you must print it as a PDF as Argixu advised, to prevent any modifications before printing (especially if it is your thesis - good luck by the way - a printer or the university will be more economical and yield better results than your printer, as it can change the settings and you will have everything to check in stress before you print it on paper).
And by going through PDF printing (via free PDF creator for instance), no borders will be installed - if a white frame appears during printing due to the printer, I personally find that with the pastel green color, it will serve as a frame rather than irregular white borders and will be as clean and beautiful as you hoped.

Well no, the page is not perfect at all in the example I added... you can clearly see the white space at the bottom of the page that doesn't fit. I tried the text area + fill, same result, the white space at the bottom of the page persists.

Ps: regarding the transparency issue, it's on another file, not this one. But on both, we have the same problem of not occupying the entire page.

I don’t think I did a "big mess," just an image + a rectangle with transparency (not on the provided file but on the other one that is also glitching), I have done this regularly without issues, I don't know why it's going wrong this time.

I'm happy to try to help you, but I don't want to play guessing games. I repeat, looking at the example and your explanations, it doesn't match up.

Please attach your Word file, with the cover page and the following page, using placeholder text instead of what you don't want to publish, which is normal, as long as the issue is reproduced... and most importantly, explain exactly what you want on that file, without referring to the others that we can look at separately. That way, we can see what might be causing this misalignment.

Euh how do I post a Word file? I know how to do it for images but not for a Word doc.
