1-Open the printer.
2-Locate the absorber, which is the spongy tab located under the axis where the cartridges move. If you touch it with your fingers, the ink will stain you. So no room for error.
The ink deposits on this absorber and solidifies. It can no longer pass through this sponge.
3-Take cotton swabs, dip them in distilled water, and clean the absorber.
Immediate effect; it works directly!!!

Here is the reset procedure (reset) for CANON PIXMA
error 5b00 = "ink absorber full" (or "waste ink reservoir full").
1 - Turn off the printer
2 - Press and hold the STOP button (Red Triangle)
3 - While still holding STOP, press and hold ON/OFF
4 - Release ONLY STOP and press STOP twice quickly (while holding ON/OFF)
5 - Release everything until the word "idle" appears under CANON on the screen
6 - Press STOP four times quickly and then ON/OFF twice quickly
7 - Turn off the printer and turn it back on normally...
That's it, it's done.
You will probably need to clean the sponge that collects the waste ink before it overflows, but it's not very accessible.
It should probably work for all CANON printers.

I didn't really believe it.
But I changed the two cartridges on Friday, and I didn't want to throw away my Canon MP150, which is sufficient for my regular printing needs.
So, I opened my printer as if to change an ink cartridge and found a hole on the right near the white rollers, from which my finger came back black and sticky. Not being very handy, I didn't open my printer completely but only lifted the left side by 3cm and placed a few magazines underneath. My printer is in front of me, the left side raised by 3cm compared to the right side, still open as if to change a cartridge.
Now I need to clean this absorber pad: I took a piece of paper towel, folded it in half, then in the other direction in 2cm increments. So now I have a piece about the size of a flattened cigarette. I placed it in the hole where I had put my finger. It stayed there all night. This morning, I removed it, and the excess ink was absorbed on one-third of my paper towel.
I laid my printer flat again and applied the reset of the counter as described above by "Bichondu63", a bit perplexed. For now, the prints are not straight, but I am printing again.
Thank you, Bichondu63, and good luck to the others; you can do it too.

First, a HUGE THANK YOU to Bichondu63. My PIXMA150 E2 E7 ERROR SOLVED. Personally, I had the issue with the A and B lights always on because I was refilling my cartridges. Here is the solution to turn them off

Hello,
I have followed the instructions, everything is clean.
However, the message still appears upon reboot.
A tutorial with photos would be welcome!
Thank you,
J-P

Bravo pour la solution d'Herbie! At my place, the cartridges weren't returning and stayed on the right. I extracted the first one as best I could and then forcefully brought the carriage back, then cleaned it, and performed Herbie's procedure, which only worked on the third try because I wasn't sure about the pressure to apply. Additionally, you have to wait for the green light to stop flashing before doing the four resets. Phew, it worked! I'm thrilled; I really didn't want to change printers before Christmas!
Herbie, a big thank you. =)
I got a bit lost in the Resets but the Tip was spot on.
I had never maintained the printer, everything works perfectly with your advice.
Have a great day.

Hello everyone,
I tested the method on my Pixma MP150 but it turns out that the power light keeps blinking and I can't get back to normal functionality, the reset doesn't respond and everything is frozen, I can't even use the scanner and it's blocked. If someone could help me, it would be nice.
Thank you in advance
At worst, I will buy another one (I will change brands, Canon is getting worse and worse...)

To unlock error E27:
Error E27, the ink absorber is full. To reset the counters:
1- Turn off the printer.
2- Press "Power" and at the same time "Stop/Reset".
3- Release "Stop/Reset" and press it twice again.
4- Release both buttons.
5- When the "on/off" lights are green, press "Stop/Reset" 4 times.

S U P E R ....
It's a trick that also works for the Canon i560.
(error message when attempting to print: "waste ink tank full, print canceled")
Followed by SEVEN flashes of the (single) green/amber light.
After resetting the counters, as indicated by HERBIE, I absorbed the excess ink from the "foam-filter-waste tank" using a paper towel rolled like a pencil, placed flat on the filter for a few minutes.
Since then, it works perfectly!
Thanks for the tip!

This reset procedure also works for the Canon i550; I used it from a different source.
For the ink cartridges, I used a small spray of lens cleaner, which dilutes the ink quite well, and soaked it up with a dry cloth like blotting paper.
However, I am looking for a detailed procedure for disassembling and cleaning the ink recovery pads at the bottom of an i550. Does anyone have the method?

Hello, I have the same issue with my printer (Pixma MP150).
I just replaced the ink cartridges, and whenever I try to perform an alignment test, cleaning, or even print a document, it displays the same message: "waste ink reservoir almost full." However, when I copy the document, there is no problem despite the error displayed (error 6 and error 8).
If anyone has a solution to propose, as I have tried the power and reset manipulations but nothing works; the message keeps coming back.
If you could help me, I would really appreciate it.
Thank you in advance for any assistance you could provide.

Good evening,
I am reaching out to you because I noticed you were the last person to resolve your printer issue with the E27 error display on my Canon MP 150 printer. I've tried my best with the manipulations, but my printer doesn't seem to respond at all... I pressed the power button, then the Reset button (the red button with a triangle and a circle) at the same time as power... I pressed the reset button twice, without releasing the power button, and then I released both... Once my power button was a steady green, I pressed reset four times...
Did I make any mistakes in the manipulations???
How did you manage to resolve it???
Please help me
Thank you in advance for your response.

Hello,
Sorry for my late reply.
Here’s how I did it:
*By lifting the "hood" for changing the cartridges, they slide to the left and we have access to the pads (on the right).
*I thoroughly cleaned the 2 pads with a cotton swab (the pads are rectangular and all black with ink!)
*After that, I followed the reset procedure for HERBIE (on July 8, 2008)......
Have a good day.

Hello,
First of all, thank you for your response.
Unfortunately, this does not change the situation with my printer. As for me, the cartridges stay on the right; they do not move to the left because the printer remains in error... Moreover, the foam is all along the inside of the printer; I removed it, cleaned it, and had no success, even with the Herbie procedure... :-$...
I hope you can help me.
Thanks again.

Thank you for your response. Ana
In any case, it works, it looks like a DIY job, but it's great, I nearly freaked out myself!
Thanks Herbie for sharing this info.
