Hello,
I’m creating a topic here because I’m lost.
I would like to know how to format or simply restore my Packard Bell Windows Vista laptop to factory settings, following a nasty virus (system restore in safe mode doesn’t work).
- I’ve made all my little backups on an external hard drive.
- I don’t have a Windows installation DVD (normal with Packard Bell, right?)
- I only have access to the product ID in safe mode (thanks to the virus)
- I don’t understand anything about this “hidden partition” stuff.
- I’m not too computer-savvy but I can still do what I’m told...
In short, is it possible for me to launch a factory restore or a formatting without getting stuck in any way once everything is erased? Like, oh crap, I don’t have the Windows key anymore, or oh crap, I can’t reinstall Windows, etc...
Thank you for your help,
best regards
F

Hello floflo59000,
Try pressing the F4 or F9 key when starting your computer, which should normally guide you to the recovery.
Best regards.

Thank you for your valuable advice.
I pressed F11 at startup, came across the Packard Bell Recovery Management and reinstalled everything without any issues, no key needed. It’s like new, it feels great!
Thanks again! -
Good evening,
hold down the ALT key and at the same time tap the F10 key, starting from the moment you turn on the PC. You should reach the recovery menu (factory restore)
Follow the on-screen instructions.
Best regards

Hello,
the Packard Bell model is EasyNote MH36.
Having first pressed alt + F10 without success, I referred to this tutorial: https://forums.commentcamarche.net/forum/affich-6804896-restauration-d-origine-packard-bell-vista (sorry, if I had found it earlier I probably wouldn't have bothered you...)
And with F11, everything worked like a charm.
Best regards

edit: someone has already marked my topic as resolved, thank you! sorry for the wait. -
