Good evening,
I am posting this message because I am having a big problem with my laptop:
ACER ASPIRE 5736Z
Intel Pentium T4500
15.6" HD LCD
Intel GMA 4500MHD
4 GB DDR3 Memory
750 GB HDD
DVD-Super Multi DL drive
Acer Nplify 802.11b/g/n
6-cell Li-on battery
So, two weeks ago: I formatted my PC because it was running too slow at startup (about 30 minutes of waiting before I could use it normally). Maybe it was because I occasionally turned it off by holding the On/Off button...
Anyway, two weeks ago, I did a factory reset.
There, nothing to say: the PC works perfectly! No problems, fast, etc...
Last week, I turned it on, and I don't understand: everything is glitching, impossible to use!
I decided to reformat it last weekend. The same thing, everything works perfectly, I only downloaded Skype, Chrome, Avast McAfee. I have very few folders.
And since the day before yesterday, it does the same thing again! Everything is glitching, impossible to use, whereas before it worked perfectly. So I referred to Safe Mode with Networking.
I did a restore to an earlier date; disabled several startup programs but nothing works. Yesterday I realized that I had in the icons at the bottom right the icon of the HDD with an exclamation mark and the famous message "The Intel RST Service is not running".
So I went into Safe Mode, set it to "automatic" as it was in "automatic (delayed start)". Now the icon displays a green checkmark. Surely it’s not coming from there since the problem persists.
Then McAfee shows me that "real-time scanning is disabled". When I try to enable it, it "re-disables" a few seconds later. I disabled McAfee at startup, no difference.
I also want to let you know that I am now installing all Windows Update updates.
In conclusion, currently, I have two error messages that appear at the bottom right: the McAfee message mentioned above and another Windows message indicating that I need to back up my files.
That’s all! I don't know how to react now.
I’m really bothered by the idea of having to "re-reformat" for the umpteenth time. Especially if it's just going to do the same thing again in a week.
I really hope to find a solution to my problem in this forum.
Thank you in advance to anyone who will help me.
Best regards.

Do you have two antiviruses?
You only need one, otherwise they conflict...

Good evening "Bourbons",
Yes, I have both! Do you think that could be the cause of the problem? :o -
Thank you very much "Bourbons"!
I followed your advice: I uninstalled McAfee and installed CCleaner for the registry, etc...
I was using Google Chrome, I tried Internet Explorer and it works perfectly in normal mode. Everything works, but when I access Chrome, that's when the big bug starts. How is that possible? While in safe mode, I can access it without any problem.-
Reset Chrome?

Do you have toolbars on Chrome?

So... I reset Chrome. It didn't change anything. I uninstalled it and installed Firefox instead. I thought it was Chrome, but I was wrong since I'm still having this problem...
Oh misery, misery.-
Aside from this, does your PC work better?
How did you uninstall your antivirus?
There must be no trace of the old one.
You may have other programs to stop at startup by msconfig?
Run: msconfig and check that your startup is set to SELECTIVE
And in the STARTUP tab, only keep the antivirus checked for testing.
Do you have only one firewall? -
Not really actually.
To uninstall McAfee, I went to the control panel; uninstall a program; McAfee; then they asked me to restart the PC. Then I downloaded CCleaner as you told me, I used the registry function, 0 errors to correct. Finally, I went to Computer, I typed McAfee in the top right in Search to see if there were any traces left.
My startup is indeed SELECTIVE, I only have about ten programs checked for startup. I unchecked Avast and McAfee SCAN PLUS which was installed when I downloaded Mozilla yesterday.
Yes, I only have one firewall: Windows. -
I unchecked Avast and McAfee SCAN PLUS that installed when I downloaded Mozilla yesterday.
This isn't great.
Anyway, I'm saying this but I don't have your PC in my hands.
Earlier I sent you a link, and to properly uninstall McAfee, you needed to download a utility//
https://www.commentcamarche.net/faq/7367-desinstaller-proprement-liens-et-astuces#mcafee-virusscan-version-2005-a-2010
If you reformat, only have one antivirus installed and
big advice: when you install software, be sure to pay attention and uncheck anything unrelated
to the software you want...
McAfee SCAN PLUS that installed when I downloaded Mozilla yesterday.

Okay, I'm going to try the link you sent me. If it still doesn't work, I'll reformat it. If I reformat it, do you think it's better to download Avast or McAfee?
Yes, I always uncheck the additional options for software like toolbars, etc., but this time I accepted for McAfee since it's not the antivirus but the scanner.
By the way, here are the programs in msconfig that are checked in the startup tab:
- Realtek HD Audio Manager
- MyWinLocker
- Intel(R) Common User Interface
- Intel(R) Common User Interface
- Intel(R) Common User Interface
- ELAN Smart-Pad
- DefaultSettingEXE Application
- Power Management
- IAStorIcon
- LaunchManager
- MyWinLocker Suite
- EgisTec In-Product Service
- EgisTec In-Product Service
- Adobe Acrobat
- Acer Backup Manager
Uncheck programs:
Avast; McAfee security scanner; mcpltui_exe -
P.S: your link concerns McAfee from 2005 to 2010, whereas the one I downloaded was from 2013.

to disable unnecessary processes at startup
download Slowin' Killer on your "Desktop"
https://www.security-helpzone.com/2013/03/29/slowin-killer-outil-optimisation-optimiseur-windows/
- Click on "Auto Optimization..." (the software will cut unnecessary processes)
- At the end of the scan, a report will be available in the interface and on the desktop.
The PC will restart.
and you delete the files
see you+

Follow the Bison's advice...
I really like antivir ;)
Personally, in msconfig, I only have antivir checked.
And everything is fine, the PC starts quickly, etc...

Good evening bourbons,
I downloaded Slowin' Killer and did the optimization, here is the report:
file:///C:/Program%20Files%20%28x86%29/Slowin%20Killer/Reports/Slowin_Killer_%5BO%5D%5B4%5D.html
Then, I did another cleanup with CCleaner.
I restarted the computer in normal mode.
Everything works PERFECTLY except for the internet.
As soon as I double-click on the internet, the homepage starts to load then gets stuck, crashes, becomes unresponsive, and it causes a bug on the whole PC, like the taskbar, for example.
There you go, I'm starting to despair, I will probably reformat it for the third time in three weeks. By the way, won't all these factory restorations risk damaging the computer? :o
Best regards. -

Fix it = https://www.commentcamarche.net/telecharger/utilitaires/14883-microsoft-fix-it-center/
If solutions are proposed to you, you apply them
* Microsoft options = https://support.microsoft.com/fixit/fr
and these
https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/2970908/how-to-use-microsoft-easy-fix-solutions
https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/2970908/how-to-use-microsoft-easy-fix-solutions
https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/2970908/how-to-use-microsoft-easy-fix-solutions
also do,
in Computer (or My Computer, for XP), you right-click on the disk "C:\" => Properties => Tools => Error Checking => Check Now => you check the two boxes => Start => YES => and Restart the PC
there will be a blue scanning screen for 10 to 30 minutes depending on the volume
(up to 2 hours or more for a volume of 1 TB or more)
no links on the English web page, I'm already stealing enough by myself -
I tried Fix it, I couldn't solve my problem.
I eventually reformatted the computer and only downloaded Skype, Avast, Google Chrome, and CCleaner.
Everything is working perfectly for now.
Thank you again for your help! :)
