Virtualbox: Unable to delete a virtual machine

Hello,
Following the loss of a file containing a virtual machine, I wish to delete the entry corresponding to this machine in VirtualBox but I am unable to do so.

I perform the following operations
- Right-click on the machine to be deleted in the list of machines
- Select the "Remove..." option from the context menu
- Click on the "Delete" button in the confirmation window for deletion

The virtual machine is not removed from the list and I receive no error message.

I then performed the following operations
- Completely removed the VirtualBox software by uninstalling the program (control panel, uninstall a program)
- Ran the "CCleaner" cleaner in its latest version 4.07.4369 + Cleaned the registry
- Reinstalled VirtualBox

The virtual machine still exists.

How can I force the deletion of a virtual machine from the list of machines?
In fact, how can I completely delete all virtual machines from the list since uninstalling VirtualBox is not enough as this list is retained when reinstalling the software?

I am on Windows 7 with VirtualBox 4.3.2.
Thank you in advance.
Jean-Marie

Hello everyone
I'm getting back to you following the remarks and advice from Nevad21 and Aranud87.

Uninstalling VirtualBox
Uninstalling the software using the standard Windows tools (uninstalling programs) works but leaves information on the disk. The uninstallation program does not give the user the option to keep or delete the VirtualBox configuration data during uninstallation (which is really unfortunate...)
- The folder 'C:\Program Files\Oracle\VirtualBox' still exists and is not completely emptied.
- The folder 'C:\Users\JMG\.VirtualBox' still exists and is not completely emptied.
I don't know if there are also remaining entries in the registry...

Solution
After uninstalling VirtualBox, completely delete these two folders to start fresh.
Not knowing if there are entries left in the registry, I can't tell you anything about that.

What is certain is that the list of virtual machines is reset this time.
So the solution is found.
