Question

Hello, I want to download a game and when I try to open the Setup I have a problem... I have disabled Windows Smartscreen but a message appears "This application cannot run on your PC. To find a version for your PC, check with the software publisher." I don't really know what to do anymore...
I'm waiting for your response :/ !

You have a Windows that is incompatible. It is probably the 64-bit version of an app while your PC is 32-bit (or vice versa), in which case, get the correct version of the software:

Try: right-click ---> properties ---> compatibility (tab) ---> check "run this program in compatibility" and choose Windows 7 or another version.

Microsoft has developed a habit of annoying everyone in order to create completely fake security buzz that gradually allows them to lock down their operating systems.

Indeed, they sometimes target a trendy game and invite people to consult page after page, go on forums, mention Windows millions of times online.

A recent game that works on everything EXCEPT Windows 8 and 10... seriously.

We already have the SmartScreen scam, and they keep adding more and more. (I spent 4 hours removing everything that shouldn't be in the OS on a friend's PC... it's impressive to see how intrusive and restrictive Windows has become, packed with totally outrageous stuff)

At one point, I got so fed up with having to troubleshoot, bypass, and update something every day only to be blocked by something else, etc.... that I finally ditched Windows and installed Ubuntu, and since then... peace and no more hassle. A small XP version under VirtualBox, and I stay a spectator of all this mess.

For your information, games blocked on Windows 8 work fine via PlayOnLinux (not all Windows games, but almost all of them).
