Hello,
can we reopen this troubleshooting??
I just encountered this problem and the links mentioned in the forum no longer work.
I have: a solid red light and a blinking green light and blinking error E on Epson RX 425.

Hello,
Given the age of your printer, it's possible that the ink collection reservoir from the head cleanings performed during cartridge changes is full.
You can test this hypothesis for free with the WICREset software (check counters) available for download here: https://www.2manuals.com/
It may also be that you have installed some "compatible" cartridges that are not recognized by your RX425. I've seen this happen with a RX520 before...
It's the error E90 or E92, I can't quite remember. Back then, I used rechargeable cartridges with auto-reset chips and the error disappeared.
Anyway, first test the printer's counters and do NOT buy ANYTHING for now.

WARNING Real values may be different due to evaporating. Please, check device status instead.
I don’t understand?
Then if this is due to the cartridges, I need to be able to access them because right now it’s impossible, no action possible in the state the printer is in.

WicReset should tell you in English if the counter reset is necessary.
It displays the counter values in red if that is the case.
With it, you can also test the ink level indicated by the chips.
There is no need for the printer to be installed or operational for that.

on WICRESET: the status gives me:
STATUS Waste ink pad counter overflow error
Cyan Not available
Magenta Not available
Yellow Not available
Black Not available
then I followed the link given: http://www.wasteinkpads.com, and even though it's paid, I don't speak Chinese !!?? because the link redirects to a site in Chinese ... too complex for me !! already English !!

I don't understand, at my place the site http://www.wasteinkpads.com/ is in English and you can have it in French by selecting the language in the menu bar or a little above on the left....
"STATUS Waste ink pad counter overflow error " clearly indicates that the waste ink reservoir (Waste ink counter/purge counter) has reached its limit. It must be reset.
Otherwise, there is this address that would suit you to reset the counter http://www.ssclg.com/epsone.shtml
This old tool, "SSC Service Utility," works perfectly with Windows XP and your RX425 is on the list of supported printers. Having tried it with SEVEN, I can assure you that SEVEN users will get NOTHING!!!
I have plenty of other links for the maintenance program made by Orthotamine, but if I post them my messages are deleted.
Another thing: it seems that your cartridges are not recognized. BUT that means nothing, given that the printer is blocked due to the counter....
The first step is to unblock the printer by resetting the counter.
DO NOT buy cartridges for now, that would be a waste.

I tried the link site, installed the .exe and did what was requested. I followed the following topic that I found, https://forums.commentcamarche.net/forum/affich-37636494-epson-des-elements-arrives-au-terme-de-leur-duree-de-vie and it tells me that it's not compatible, see with INK FREEZER, I did it and it says "DONE" but I can't read the "Counter". Each attempt tells me that it's not compatible, and my Epson Stylus Photo RX425 is not managed by the indicated program. So I'm at the same point... Should I disassemble the printer and see if I clean the pad? I still don't know what its problem is...

I have tried all the solutions mentioned above, but nothing works?!!
Especially since the printer is jammed, so I can't check the cartridges or anything without disassembling it... with the risks that that entails.

I read the topic about sscserver (, https://forums.commentcamarche.net/forum/affich-37636494-epson-des-elements-arrives-au-terme-de-leur-duree-de-vie there's a step missing where you select the printer model from the dropdown menu - at the beginning on the "configuration" tab.
Right-click on the SSCSERVER icon at the bottom right of the screen, then: "reset protection counter" and click 'YES'
Then, after a few seconds, you need to turn the printer off and then back on.

It should work. Don't forget to turn off the printer after resetting the counter.

I've spent some time on this f.... printer!! I've followed everything you told me to do from the beginning and it still doesn't work; it keeps flashing all its green lights and shows "E" while the red lights are steady.
So, going through everything again, I notice that the counter doesn't seem to be stuck (see: the wicreset gives me: COUNTER 25458 out of 14700: 36000 WARNING Real values may be different due to evaporating. Please, check device status instead. which according to REVERSO is: real values may vary due to evaporation. Please check the device status instead.) If I understand correctly, I need to look elsewhere, so I checked the status which tells me that the colors are not available!!??? The cartridges are new!!!
However, my wife, who replaced the cartridges, wonders today if she forgot to remove the protective film from the cartridges!!! Could that be the cause of the Christmas tree lights!!
So, with my printer being stuck, aside from taking it apart completely, how can I access the cartridges and check the protective film and remove it if necessary?

Reverso is totally useless.
The WICReset message indicates that the counter value is 25458 while its normally accepted maximum value is 14700. The warning is pointless.
So you really need to reset the counter. Because that’s the problem.
SSC server utilities will do it for free since it is compatible with your RX425 printer. It works well with WINDOWS XP but not so well with seven.
That said, if you are bad at English, you’re going to have serious difficulties.
