Error message "E" on HP F380 printer

Hello,
A friend just gave me his HP F380 printer because it doesn't work anymore.
I notice that the cartridge light is flashing orange on the control panel, even though there are new cartridges (not brand name) and an "E" is lit in the "number of copies" area.
After multiple attempts, I can't get back to a normal state.
Is there someone who could help me?
