Hello,
When I started my computer with W8: I got this: error 0Xc000021a. I understood (from the session opening bugs and the impossibility to start in safe mode) that gina.dll is fried (probably due to the abrupt shutdowns during the bugs). I tried to put msgina.dll in Windows32 but it didn’t work.
Can you help me?
PS: for some reasons I cannot reinstall W8 (CD not bootable, too annoying to reinstall Inventor, no key to save but files and my other partitions are full, ...)

Configuration: Windows8 + Office 2010
Chrome / Firefox / Opera
Linux Chrome/Firefox
Phenom II x4 965 Asus M5A87 old GPU 8400

it's exactly this that allowed me to say that it's the genia.dll that's cooked.
      Thanks anyway ;)
I also tried some registry backups.

It depends on what you mean by "damaged files" (altered or incorrectly registered files)
if they are corrupted files, you should try to restore them with the version that is in the cache.
Have you tried sfc /scannow to attempt to restore the files?
If so, what was the result?

Okay, I'll restart and let you know.

The Windows Resource Protection failed to start the repair service.

The problem is that I only have a console from which I can start Firefox and respond, and I need graphical access to the settings.
      Thank you

      I'm running a
      chkdsk C: /f /r
while forcing the partition to unmount: quite a few repairs.
