Hello,
I have an ASUS Prime A320M-K motherboard with 8GB of DDR4 DIMM RAM - 2666MHz and I just bought 2 sticks of 8GB DDR4 3200MHz. After installing the sticks, the PC won't start. I rolled back and the PC works correctly. Do you know why?

Hello,
Physically, no limitation, it should boot. The 3200s are an XMP profile, not a JEDEC profile, so the RAM should natively default to a JEDEC profile (2133/2400) before enabling, from the BIOS, applying an XMP profile.
So the two sticks, after learning, will still be seen only at 2133/2400.
Memory learning can take time and may make it seem like a KO boot.
You must wait 10 minutes or the PC may shut down outright before concluding a KO.After that you can help the BIOS from the currently functioning config:
- Disable XMP
- F5 or "load defaults" after saving the existing config into a profile
- Try a first learning with a single 3200 stick and let it run for 10 good minutes

Just having DDR4 isn’t enough for it to work; you have to consider the motherboard and processor memory controller and the compatibility list for the RAM sticks to be sure it works 100%, even though most of the time it does, but if a kit doesn’t work you should return it and try another one.

Default BIOS, 1 stick installed, 25 minutes after startup still nothing. The PC does not shut down, however.

We can try updating the BIOS from the functional config
With the BIOS Update Manual here :
If despite that, it’s still KO :- still to check all RAM slots with the 2 sticks alone, 8 boot if 4 slots
- and give the CPU and RAM sticks ref. There might be a chance that they don’t have EXPO profile but it doesn’t matter, for me the JEDEC default profile should have taken precedence and allowed the boot, even with a degraded frequency/latency pair.
