Hello,
I recently updated Avira Antivir to version 12.0.0.1199.
In my previous version, there was indeed an ad at startup or with each update, but it didn't bother me too much. A click on the cross to close the ad, and that was all.
In this new version, a small window opens at the bottom right of the screen, above the clock. In fact, when it appears, I have a choice between:
- Remind me later
- Cross to close
- Delete all (or something like that)
The problem? In reality, I have no choice.
--> The cross, no matter how much I click, nothing happens; it doesn't close...
--> With Delete all, the entire window location changes to an internet page that didn't work. I have a lot of things written, but I can't do anything. The window location stays in the foreground with the "error message," and it's really inconvenient to continue doing what I need to do on the computer. Solution: close and reopen my session. Issue: the message will reappear later.
--> So I have to select Remind me later, and the window disappears for a while before reappearing regularly, which is annoying.
What's also frustrating is that if I open the task manager, this small window does not appear in the open applications, and I don't know enough to dig into the processes...
I've tried to search a bit on Google, but I find answers for ads in previous versions of Avira Antivir. I really feel like I'm trapped with this ad that I can't close.
I hope I was as clear as possible in my description of the problem.
Thank you in advance.

Hello
Normand's response.
Right now Avast is calmer than Antivir in terms of ads, at least once you've downloaded the free version because some days they make you go round and round page after page before getting the free file. In terms of effectiveness, there's ultimately not much difference between them.

Finally, thank you very much!
Yes, by going to CTRL+ALT+DELETE, we close ipmgui.exe and the window disappears.
For me, I had no choice but to close it with the cross, which doesn't work at all, or, the second option, to upgrade.
Is there a way to prevent this window from ever appearing again!!!
Thank you.
