Canon CP730 not printing via USB, help!!

Hello
my Canon Selphy CP730 printer does not print when connected to my PC via USB. It works fine with a camera or a memory card but not with my PC.
The document is in the print queue but the printer does not move.

Even more strangely, I tried with the same PC but with another hard drive and another Windows XP and it works without issue.
So it’s a software problem with XP and USB.
Does anyone have a lead or an idea?

thank you very much in advance!
Configuration: Windows XP Internet Explorer 6.0

I have the same problem too, I sent a message to Canon tonight, so I’m waiting for their response.

But I think it comes from Windows.

I'm running XP Home, another service missing or something like that!!

I have the same problem, my CP720 bought at Christmas worked fine under XP SP2, but since I reinstalled XP it doesn't work anymore, I tried on my laptop, same thing. It is recognized, and marked ready, the photos appear in the spooler with status = printing in progress, but nothing, if I choose "restart," the file disappears from the spooler. I contacted Canon, very nice they swapped the printer for a new one, but result the same, so it's not the printer. I think the XP upgrade (done on my laptop too) changed something in XP that now prevents the CP720 from working. Does anyone have another idea? JJ.

I reinstalled my OS on my laptop and I was able to print again.

But recently it’s still acting up!!

So I need to look more closely because there is no way I’m reinstalling the OS again.

I'll keep you posted if I find anything.

      See you.

I’ve done a bit of analysis on what might have changed since Christmas when it was still working well, and what seems true for both my desktop and my laptop are the Windows updates I installed on both.
Could there have been a Windows update that stirred things up?
I’ve sent a message in this regard to Canon, but I haven’t heard back yet.
      To be continued

Eventually after several interventions with a qualified Canon France support technician, they didn’t find anything. So I decided to “repair” my Windows XP and it works fine now; I did it on my 3 PCs, including the laptop, mystery ???? We’ll never know what happened. By repairing, I mean reinstall Win XP from the CD-ROM but then, before overwriting the existing installation, choose the “repair” option (R) so that all existing applications stay installed correctly; you only need to re-download all the hotfixes via Windows Update. There you go, JJ.

I think it’s coming from the USB virtual printer, which crashes when the print job is too large in size, but to date I haven’t found a solution. Otherwise I’ve found a simpler method to reinstall the printer drivers correctly so that it works. I’ll put together a small tutorial!! within the week.

      See you, good luck!!

Hello, same problem with my Canon Selphy CP 730. I can't print (file in the queue) even though it works if I connect this printer to another PC.

    Hello,
I’ve encountered the same problem with a MacBook running OS 10.4.10.
The issue occurs with the iPhotos program, which is the main program on a Mac for printing photos; it gets stuck in the queue and nothing helps.

However, when using Canon’s Image Browser program, shipped with the printer, everything works.
I also tried HP Image Zone and that works as well. So this comes from the drivers provided by Canon that were poorly done since we find the problem on both PC and Mac...

    The drivers. yet again...
    see you soon.
