[WORD] Unremovable horizontal bars.. Solved

Question

Hello,

I have a problem with Word:

> Horizontal lines are appearing in my document somewhat randomly as I write.
> They look like removable divider lines, but here's the thing: I can't erase them, and when I cut/paste my text into another Word page, they reappear.

Has anyone encountered this problem or can help me? It's driving me CRAZY!!!

hello

go to file/page layout then layout, click on border,
you have 2 tabs border and page border, and in each you have a preview, you click on the small boxes that correspond to your lines (top, bottom, right, left), this will resolve your issue.

Thank you for your advice Gihef, but it doesn’t seem to be that.

Additional precise details:
The "bars" in question cannot be deleted. At most, we can move them up one line. Moreover, they create a space of two lines above them where we cannot place the cursor. I manage to make them disappear by merging the paragraphs, but the one below the text clings on well...

Do they not correspond to a paragraph style?
Has your Normal template been modified?
Do they appear when you use a (combination of) specific key(s) to go to the next line?

The bar is simply a horizontal black line that spans the width of the text.

A theory that could hold regarding their origin is that I copied a part of text from the internet... but I'm not even sure that's it.

As for the image, I don't know how to show it to you (can we attach files? Sorry, I'm not very experienced...)

but first you need to "select" the line by hovering over it and moving it up (for example). Then you have to go to File/Page Setup/Layout/Button "Borders"/Tab "Border" (and not "Page Border") and there you can remove this line

For Flemish, it really depends on the village you’re in...
the "v" in "van" is indeed a bit close to [fan]
The "w" is pronounced the same way as Belgian Francophones pronounce it too. Close to the English version, but prettier. Lips contract into a small circle forward, and at the moment you let the air out, you release your lips.
"ij" is a bit like [ei]
"een" is pronounced [één]
"st" remains [st], and "sch" is like [ch]
"situatie" is like in French, with "tie" = [sie] (the "t" plays the same role as in French in "situation" [sion])
"nieuwe", is like "niew" in English
two vowels in a row are pronounced more drawn out (longer). This is also the case for isolated vowels in the case of "open" syllables in a word: "spelen" (to play) is pronounced [speelen] because the first syllable ends in a vowel (spe-len)
the "oe" is our [ou]
in "fundamenteel", the "u" remains "u",
the same goes for "zoals" (zo-als)

Sure, I have the same problem and I suppose the trick works for the PC version, but for Mac, there’s no border section in the layout.

Is there a solution? (because I admit, it's starting to drive me crazy too)

Hello

When you try to type text in a Microsoft Word document, a black bar appears over the line(s) you are typing. You can no longer see or read the content you are typing.

The problem may come from the fact that your graphics card drivers are not properly installed... or that the colors are set to 16 colors.

Hi,

I also went crazy with this problem in Word 2007:

1) To remove the borders when they are at the top/bottom of the page, go to Page Layout -> Page Borders -> in the Page Borders tab, set it to none.
2) If the borders are between pieces of text, you need to select the part that contains a border (the entire paragraph above with the border) and this time go to the Borders tab and set it to none.

Personally, I selected my entire document with CTRL+A and then removed all the borders (in both tabs) and it worked well ^^

By the way, I also had a very thick black horizontal line but it disappeared with the rest!

I tried pretty much everything you said,
nothing worked, I’m using LibreOffice for Mac.
still those black horizontal and bulging bars at the bottom of some pages,
and during this ordeal,
they sometimes multiplied,
sometimes some could be deleted,
in short,
only one thing finally worked:
I went to Format: Clear direct formatting.
I probably should have thought of that...but no,

I recently installed Office 2016 :-(( on Mac. When using Word, I had a problem with unremovable lines...
In the end, I found the solution in Word preferences.
Word->preferences->view->UNCHECK text boundaries.

It's really a paragraph border that is annoying; it can be at the end (bottom) or at the beginning (top) of the paragraph.
Before removing it, you need to choose to place the cursor just below or above !!! After that, depending on your version of Word, you can access it through different menus.

Word 2003:
- Pane: Paragraph/ Borders & Shading/ Borders: click 'none'

(if the position of your cursor is well chosen before this menu, then a line symbolizing the location of the border should appear in the box symbolizing the paragraph! Otherwise, move the cursor to the other side...)

Finally, to disable the random production of these 'damn unremovable horizontal lines', you need to disable a certain automation that m$ has added for our pleasure:
- Options/Proofing/AutoCorrect Options/Tab: 'While Typing'/Apply => uncheck the box 'Borders'

And there you have it, the MIRACLE has been accomplished ...

Hi, I have Word 2016 and I had the same problem as you. I found a simpler technique.
Actually, you go directly to the File tab, below you'll see a horizontal toolbar and on the same line as the fonts, there is the symbol of the bar you have on your document. You just need to click on it and it should be fine. Good luck everyone!
