Solved

Hello,
I've been struggling for several hours because my laptop, an Acer Aspire 5315, no longer recognizes the Matshita DVD RAM UJ870QJ ATA DEVICE DVD burner

I tried to find and install the drivers without success; either I couldn't find them, or the sites run a scan and then ask me to pay to fix it

I tried Michael's trick with the small file to copy to the desktop, then right-click to install and restart, it’s magic it works thank you so much

BUT now I have a new problem: all the CDs or DVDs I insert are recognized as blank which is not the case???

Thank you for your help
Eric

Configuration: Windows Vista / Safari 534.10

You must have used this, I suppose:
http://docxp.mvps.org/b1n/DisparitionCD.inf

For your driver, right-click on your CD/DVD drive and uninstall it. Restart the PC, Windows will reinstall it.

If it still doesn't work:
what burning software and media players do you have on your PC?

Thank you very much for your help
Yes, the link I used, that's it, it fixed part of the problem

Well, I did what you told me, I went into the device manager
and I uninstalled the burner driver, and indeed it reinstalled itself upon restart

But the problem persists when I insert a CD or DVD with data, it considers it blank without me using any software!

Otherwise, I have Nero, iTunes, etc., those are the two I use for burning, I also have VLC, Windows Media Player, etc.

Another thing, when I go to Computer and right-click on the burner drive icon
then Properties and Hardware, I have two icons, the Matsushita and Hitachi?
In the device manager, there's only one Matsushita driver!
Is this a clue or unrelated?

Thanks again because I'm struggling, I've never encountered this problem and it's blocking me, I need to recover important data saved on CDs and DVDs.

At Hitachi, it should say disk drive and at Matshita you have CD-ROM/DVD-ROM drive, that's normal.

If you're using iTunes, first check here if you can find your solution:

and let me know.

TROP FORT ALOES
Indeed, it really was from iTunes
I noticed it wasn't working anymore, I just uninstalled it and the player is working normally
it recognizes the contents of the disks
the other day it prompted me for iTunes updates and it crashed during the process, that might be where the problem came from
I was a thousand miles away from thinking it was that
I will reinstall it normally
THANK YOU VERY MUCH AND THIS FORUM IS GREAT
HAPPY HOLIDAYS
