Plextor PX-891SA burner driver not recognized in Windows XP

Hello,

I just bought the Plextor PX-891SA SATA DVD burner http://www.commentcamarche.net/guide/2819795-plextor-px-891sa

Yesterday, I installed it on Windows XP (SP3). I was able to start installing the necessary applications for Nero Essentials 10 (Microsoft .Net Framework, for example) using the CD included in the box of the burner.

But since C: didn’t have enough free space for the installation of Nero Essentials 10, I gave up.

Today, I turned my computer back on and the burner is not displayed in My Computer.

In Control Panel > System > Device Manager, there is a yellow exclamation mark next to Plextor DVDR PX-891SA.

In the device properties, the message reads:

“Windows cannot load the device driver for this hardware. This driver may be corrupted or missing. (Code 39)

Click Troubleshoot to start the troubleshooter for this device.”

Yet this burner is compatible with Windows XP.

Apparently, there are no drivers on the supplied CDs and it is impossible to find them online.

What should I do?
Thank you for your help

Phil

Configuration: Windows XP / Firefox 3.0.17

    Hello,

Windows has everything you need, no need to add a driver.

--> Download the following file to your Desktop:
    http://docxp.mvps.org/b1n/DisparitionCD.inf

--> Right-click on it and choose Install.

    --> Restart the PC.

    Hello Destrio5

Thank you very much for your response

After restarting, everything is back to normal.

My burner is once again present in My Computer and in Control Panel > System > Device Manager, everything is okay "This device is working properly."

This morning I had installed a USB CD drive to install Nero Essentials 10. I thought that maybe not finishing the installation had caused the problem. But this drive was also not recognized.

The day before yesterday, since C: did not have enough free space for the installation of Nero Essentials 10, I had uninstalled a few programs to make space.

What had happened? Why was the burner no longer recognized?

In any case, a big thank you for providing me with the solution

    Phil

It must be Nero who modified some elements regarding the CD/DVD reader/burner in the registry.
