Canon mp560 error 6c10

Affected printers: Pixma IP3600 / IP4600 / IP4700 / MP540 / MP550 / MP560 / MP620 / MP630 / MP640 / MP980 / MP990 / MX860 / MX870

Cause: the ink absorber is full.

Solution: Reset the ink counter to 0

Procedure:

Download the software "Service Mode Tool Version 1.050."
Turn off the printer.
Press "Resume," and without releasing, press "Power"; keep both buttons pressed for 5 seconds.
Release the "Resume" button, and while still holding "Power" down, press "Resume" twice; release the "Power" button.
Open the software
To reset the counter to 0, go to "SET CLEAR WASTE INK" and click on "MAIN."
Choose the value "0" on the right.
Click on "??" at the bottom right to confirm.
Turn off the printer and turn it back on.

Hello, same problem with a Canon MP 540, error code 6C10. I checked everything inside on the right, cleaned it, reset it. I was able to make a copy and then the same error happened again. So I wrote to Canon support, I'm waiting for a response.

I've had error 6C10 for 2 days and checked everywhere I could to find a solution. All in vain, so I thought, if it can't be fixed, why not investigate and see what I can find/do. If you have this problem, you might want to try this on PIXMA MP560:

First, open the cover and let the ink cartridge carrier move to the center by itself. Now, looking to the right, you'll see a row of white rollers behind the door. At the end of the rollers, there's a small piece of clear plastic that sticks in place. (Mine looked like a black brush when I noticed it.) Put on rubber gloves to keep your hands clean—take absorbent "bathroom" paper towels and wipe any ink off that piece of plastic. When it's clean, move to the ink pad and even the small square, about 3 cm/3.2 cm on each side, which is a small foam pad. This is where the excess ink is collected. Do this until the paper towel is no longer collecting ink. Close the cover, turn off the printer, then turn it back on. It worked for me.

After struggling with the equipment and considering getting it repaired, having followed the various
solutions proposed on http://imprimante-en-question.blogspot.com/2009/08/imprimante-canon-pixma-mp540.html, I simply removed the paper tray, maneuvered the 2 latches (on the left & bottom right), replaced the paper and secured it well with the latches, put the tray back and started a copy, and it worked, good luck to you.

I'm not too familiar with this forum; I left a comment hoping for a response. I have an MP 540 and I'm getting the same error. I don't know what the resume and power buttons are, sorry for being so clueless. Plus, it's impossible to find or download the tool 1.050 software in French. Where can I download it? Thank you all.

I tried with my MP560 that’s three weeks old, but it didn’t work. I’ll try again today, since it’s raining, you never know…

I miraculously found this solution on a forum that worked for my IP4600.

"FYI I had the 6C10 error for 2 days and checked everywhere I could to find a solution. All to no avail so I figured if it can't be fixed why not investigate and see what I can find/do. If you have this problem you might want to try this on Pixma MP560:

First, open the lid and allow the ink cartridge carrier to center itself. Now, looking to the right, you will see a row of white rollers behind the carrier. At the end of the rollers there is a small, clear piece of plastic that sticks up. (Mine looked like a black brush when I first noticed it.) Put on some rubber gloves to keep the hands from getting covered with ink and take a small piece of a paper towel and wipe all of the ink off this piece of plastic. When that is clean move on to the ink pad.

About 1 inch, towards the front of the printer from that piece of plastic, is a small square, about 1/2 inch per side, that is a small foam pad. This is where the excess ink is collected. Take a piece of paper towel and press into the foam. Do this until the paper towel is no longer collecting ink. Close the lid, turn off the printer then turn it back on.

Process took about 10 minutes and everything was working fine when I restarted the printer. Saves the cost of shop or shipping and seems to work just fine. Maybe make it a habit of soaking up the ink in the foam each time you change ink cartridges."

Good evening everyone, 6 months after the last post... I've had a MP560 for almost 2 years and it has been giving me this error for 2 months now. After doing all the tests on the forum as well as a good amount of other forums, I still can't solve this problem.
Does anyone know if it's repairable by Canon? I sent them an email but haven't heard back in 2 weeks.

This breakdown happens often; it can sometimes be caused by the top sheet. Removing it and putting it back in the stack can unlock the situation. For me, this solves the problem 3 times out of 4.

Hello, stop all the pointless manipulations!! You take a hairdryer and open the cover. For one to two minutes, you blow the hairdryer inside the printer and it works.

Sorry Mary, but it’s not working either. Maybe it's a coincidence like with the others who believed in their solutions. For now, no solution works for me except opening the hood, but I have to do that before every print. Tough times!!
