Major reorganization of Free TV’s numbering system

Free TV is undergoing a major overhaul of its channel numbering starting August 25, 2026. In order to improve clarity and readability of its offering, nearly 700 channels will be reorganized into thematic blocks, for example block 200 for sports or block 400 for entertainment. Throughout the transition, users won’t need to do anything as everything will be implemented automatically. However, some favorites may end up at unexpected numbers. So, how do you feel about this change, and do you think it will make navigation easier?

      I am the guinea pig for the FreeTV app on my TV without my explicit consent (the fiber has been down for months and the terrestrial relay from TDF works when it has time). Aside from the chaotic display by increasing numbers, the home banner already groups channels by theme.

      All operators, apps and terrestrial DTT number the DTT in the same order.

      The operators claim to have 100 or 150 free channels, the majority of which are either in a foreign language or unknown to viewers and intended to remain so forever, 250 or 300 by adding thematic or complete bouquets, part of which can be done the same remark, not easy to find your way.

      Each operator offers the channels they want and numbers them the same way, so the problem will be the same when changing operator.

      Regardless of the operator, if the TV is not intelligent enough to perform a search by reduced name, it will also be difficult to find them by channel number order, whereas clearly enthusiasts, for example sports fans or those seeking “adult content,” each to their own, will more easily find them in these categories.
