Open .ink file?

Hello,
I would like to read AND work on a text copied from a CD which is a ".Ink" file. Unfortunately, my little iBook G4 cannot even open it... Is there a way to convert the .ink file into a .doc? The disc contains text and photos, but I'm only interested in the text. It doesn't matter if the photos are lost.
NB.
The info on the CD indicates
under Format: "ISO 9660 (Joliet) file system" if that means anything to you... It also specifies
under Owner and permission: "Read only" ....is this the issue? The author who gave me the CD to modify the text, could they unlock it if it is locked?

I would like you to clarify whether the file in question has the extension:
- .ink (india november kilo)?
- .lnk (lima november kilo)?
If it's .ink: as you can see, it's not exactly a common format. Ask her what software she used to create this file and if she could export it to another format from that software.
If it's .lnk: as you can see, this file is a link to the actual file and therefore the person who gave you the CD made a mistake.
